Looking to get some feedback anyone would like this car in BeamNG. A few years ago I created a highly detailed Factory Five Cobra replica with lots of options. DummiesMan might have time in a month or so to work on this car, but I don't want him to waste his valuable time if the car isn't wanted. So here is a few photos of it in Unity and in 3DS Max. 3D vs Real
It should be good, it was designed to run on Unity 3D web browsers. Note, the car I made was designed to be the Factory Five Cobra Replica, so the body is fiberglass. So would we just want to keep the metal body, or can we simulate fiberglass? Drum Brakes or IRS!
That model looks excellent! Good job! The polyflow looks nice, but you might run into some spiking problems due to the high concentration of polygons around the fenders and panel edges. What's the poly-count for the whole car?
Thanks, I have many layers so to this car, and many of these parts are not needed. So I would guess the final polycount shouldn't be too high (well under 40,000). I found my original body mesh too. So if that would work better in game we can use it, it just won't look as nice.
Well this is embarrassing; I apologize for participating in the misleading information. We all catch on to things that aren't true, and don't learn about it until moments like this, where the pros like you put people like me in check. Anyway, I am excited to see a Cobra potentially coming to BeamNG.
This looks terrific! I have no idea what it takes to get it into BeamNG, but I hope it makes it. Is this still in progress? Apologies for bumping the thread, but if bringing it to the top increases its chances of making it into the game then...
Idk if it is, Dummiesman has quit BeamNG for good, and he was going to help get the model in game and functional. Unless someone steps forth to do the JBeam work, it's practically dead unfortunately. I would offer my hand at the JBeam work, but idk if the model's author is even interested anymore, and I'm somewhat busy.
This died because of a lack of JBeam work? If that's the case I could lend a helping hand as well if need be as this is the first time I have seen this thread.
Technically not dead. I contacted the beam team about handing over the assets to them. But I need to contact Factory Five Racing to pass along this request to them. I've worked with them in the past and got permission to add there vehicles to other projects. They might* be open to adding the MK4 to BeamNG. But I need to structure an email in a way that talks about how amazing the physics and driving are in the game, while pointing out the car damage is very accurate, it isn't the primary focus to adding the MK4 to the game.
Not that I want to be mean, because a Cobra would be damn awesome in BeamNG, but the devs probably won't accept the proposition, since Gabester would rather make it from scratch than have it handed to him... BUT if they accept, then it's pretty great news
I messaged them and they seem very receptive to the idea. So if Factory Five approves this, it would be up to the BeamNG team if they want to include a real vehicle in the game. And to another extent my source 3D model as a starting spot. Besides, FFR sells several cars that they could create: One major note I have to share. The legal kung fu that Factory Five already did twice with Shelby, and won. When describing this car, FFR isn't allowed to use the words "Cobra" to describe anything, including Meta words. So technically car I created is called the "MK4 Roadster". Most discussions call the car a cobra replica, but I wanted to make sure that technical note was known. Anyway, just like my stockcar asset, I would love for it to be included in the game. But no hair off my buns if not *Why not learn the BeamNG system? Sorry, to busy with my own game projects, and driving this:
I just wanted to voice my excitement for what is going on in this thread and say that orange car is beautiful. There's a 1963 Cobra near me which is always a treat to see, they have always been high on my list of favorite car designs & backgrounds.
