just show them how braindead simple it is to build a computer
there are endless videos showing how
unless you're talking about a laptop, in which case, that really depends on how you broke your current one

    1) Off-topic from Beamng: that means that the thread will be soon there.
    2) Sorry, but if your gaming PC is dead, that means you can't play beamng. Do not go here if you want to ask for advice to insist your parents to buy a PC.
    3) What do you mean by "I have the build"?

i know what components i'm putting into it but my mum straight up says no and my dad wants a plan first
they also don't want to spend that much money on one game
but i cam hook it up to my Xbox one x and play from it there but they just want money and trust so I'll just wait until Christmas
    --- Post updated ---

this not about convincing my parents to get one they just want money and i try to get on their good side

If in the market for a new one?
Get a Ryzen 1200/1600 cpu-based PC with B350 (RYZEN! not intel) Motherboard.
There's also a cheap pentium quad core out there, IIRC. Or the i3 8300/8350k and you can get and put on an intel board.
The intel is a tad faster but more expensive, the Ryzen is cheaper but runs the game just as well and isn't so hot running.
Get 8~16gb of RAM for the system as money allows. Try to pair it for the best speed (2x 4gb sticks = 8gb).
Video should be something semi-recent and not below a Geforce 9xx or Radeon R9 3xx series if possible otherwise it may not even run medium. Though that being said, if you know how to build a custom desktop, you can live with integrated graphics @720p if you have fast enough RAM, though I wouldn't recommend it (and it's not officially supported).

Your laptop board might be cheap, what's the make/model of it, and did you murder the screen, smoke the motherboard, or accidentally bathe it? Laptops don't like having impromptu baths, ya know.
If you have a computer teacher at school and you can get the part for it, see if he or she will take a chance on fixing it for you on the cheap. You won't get a warranty but hey I mean, it's worth a shot, right?
We used to fix kid's computers in Computer Technology class, but this was back in the late 90s when ATX was a brand-new standard and not many PC's had adopted it yet. AT power supplies sometimes taught the unexpecting hardware novice some welding skills, heh. *BANG* *POOOF* "This isn't welding class, that's upstairs!" -- my teacher circa '98 or '99...

So yea, your mileage may vary, but it really depends what's wrong with your current computer and if it's worth repairing.
Earn money by shoveling snow (if you're in the northern hemisphere), and save up and maybe you can trade your old laptop in on another used model at a local independently-owned PC shop for cheap.

Maybe you can find a cheap craigslist used gaming PC somewhere but make sure you take a parent with you and that you can see it working BEFORE you buy it! Be careful with this one, it's easy to get duped, so try other options first.

Got a cheap laptop at the charity a year or so back for 40$ for my retirement-age mother, works, but it's only a core2duo 1st generation, with a HDD and 3gb of RAM, not much, no fancy graphics or anything, won't run Beamng, but it runs Email and web browsing.

If you wait a bit, Ryzen mobile will be more widely available and you can sometimes snag a decent laptop with those specs, but it might not be the cheapest thing on the market when it hits (it's already starting to become available this month). Keep an eye out for it. DON'T buy into the older AMD APU's though, they stink, make sure it says Ryzen mobile on it.

Chances are the overclocked one died because either:
The processor got too hot for too long and burnt the VRM's off the board (voltage supply to cpu), cpu may or may not be alive yet, or
The mainboard in the machine committed suicide due to high load over specification not JUST due to heat, or
The power supply for the laptop gave out because of the high power demand during gaming with an overclock.
Generally it's one of those 3 things.
You can't overclock PC hardware that is not intended to be overclocked, and not expect something to fail sooner or later.
Overclocking asks a LOT more from not just your CPU, but your power supply AND motherboard too.
Overclocking the CPU also makes it less of a bottleneck and will make the other computer components (video, mostly) work harder to keep up with it, since it's not waiting for the cpu as much.

Basically, if you're going to overclock, buy or build a desktop pc that's intended for gaming AND overclocking, but if you don't have a big budget with some emergency stash-cash, don't go and do big overclocking as sooner or later, something COULD very easily break.

Example: Overclocking an i3 on a motherboard that can take high-end i7 k-series cpus won't spell doom as quickly as overclocking an i7 on that same motherboard. The i3 uses less power then the i7 so you'll go further before you hit the limit of the motherboard, or power supply, or limits of your cpu/motherboard/power supply (and to lesser extent, video card) temperature tolerance. Just food for thought. Best of luck!
