Just reassuring everyone... progress is being made... tons were made this weekend alone. Will report back when more is made
Well, as for me... I remade a part of the exhaust for the turbo & N/A variants, since I made some changes that made me move the firewall, so the exhaust had to be squished a bit Also, if someone would want to ask about the engine model(s): It/they will be changed in the future, but so far it will be just one for petrol & one for diesel separately (a "special" one for the 6.6L Duramax will come sooner or later too)
Well, looks like no one still noticed this thing is On Hold for some time (again...). The reason for the current state, is because I've been "defeated" by the Solidify modifier in Blender & can't resolve an issue with it on the Hummer's body, due to which I can't release the mod, or else it would look like a**. So far, I haven't been really doing anything on it from the last time I showed progress, since I had no mood to work on it, knowing that I can't get rid of the ugly overhang under the cars' bed that Solidify made. I know, that it's kinda a weird message, but I just don't know what to do... I don't know how will that part of the body behave when damaged ingame, even though it's in the hands of @atv_123 to make the jbeams (I have full trust in his skills). It's my "duty" to make the model as best as possible, without any bad spots etc. to make you all enjoy it, but seing the problems, I just can't do it
What does Solidify do? I'm used to 3DSMax 2017, not Blender It could simply be caused by an edge going from one vertex to another causing that overhang. Don't take my word for it though.
So it prevents it from looking like an iOS crash model? Couldn't you adjust the bed afterwards to hide this or is it pretty much unavoidable?
Well, I tried... But it would need to have some semi-major changes done, to look ok while I don't want to change the look too much
If you're able can you send a video of just a simple orbit around the bed area so I can see what you see (and maybe inside the cabin where the bed is)? The picture you posted doesn't show a lot back there.
I may do, but suddenly I got a "eureka!" moment so I may try the idea & then report back if it fails (or the opposite)
I apologize for my lack of progress on my end currently...I have had about 100 different things drop onto me at the same time, plus an update in the middle and the infuriating thing that is a material file. I will attempt to make more progress this afternoon and perhaps fix the solidify bugs while I am at it.
A Christmas miracle happened... I managed to solve the Solidify issue on the bed in 95% But now I got to fix another ugly one
It's almost always better to just do the mesh manually instead of using solidify, many modifiers don't give you the wanted results, especially with complex meshes.
Well, what do you know... I fixed the dam body, so now there shouldn't be any intersecting layers (you still could report that after I release the mod). Hopefully, me & @atv_123 will be able to launch the first WIP Beta (maybe) this month, so you will plow through the snow with it
