My dad's challenger has a speed shift manual. You press forward to change up and pull back for down. I drove it for a week when wrecked my rx7 (hit speed bump a little too fast) and it had to wait until it came out of the shop.
*D17y1 motor code. Its snappy, and chirps second. Don't worry if you take me in a cummins, Ill blow by you as you stop at the next 14 gas stations. lol
Both. My daily driver is an automatic (well, CVT) and it's perfectly good at doing what it does - efficiently give you power when you need it and good fuel economy when you need it. It's easy to drive in annoying stop-and-go traffic (unlike manual). But obviously nothing can replace the human-to-machine connection you get in a manual, so at some point I'd really like to buy a "fun" manual car, maybe an 80s Honda or Acura. When I play BeamNG with my wheel I always opt for manual transmission and clutch
manual all the way for me. The most dangerous thing I ever did was go straight from driving a manual to a friend's automatic. When its stop and go, muscle memory trying to operate the clutch when there isn't one is a bastard
In order of amount of use. 1979 Ford f100, Daily driver. 3 speed manual on the column. 2013 freightliner Cascadia, company truck. 10 speed manual on the floor. 1979 Lincoln continental, Show car. 3 speed auto. 1966 ford mustang, Racer. 3 speed on the floor, manual without clutch (MVB). I don't mind an auto, but I prefer a manual. I like to be in control of my vehicle and never have it think for me, weather it be shifting its own gears or turning on its own headlights at night, I just don't like it. if you cant control your vehicle without it doing some of the driving for you, then you shouldn't drive.
I pretty much have no problems with either. The first car I legally drove was a manual and I pretty much just drove it off the DMV lot after I got my permit. I did stall a couple times later on, of course the started wasn't working so I had to fiddle with the ignition for a few seconds before I could get it started again. I think once I accidentally hit the brake thinking it was a clutch while I was driving an automatic, but that was when I was much less experienced.
I am 15 and thus, I have no car yet. But I voted for Manual, because I am planning to buy a car with a manual gearbox. It is part of driving a car. I like shifting and clutching. It's fun! Automatic gearboxes are for old and lazy people, hehe
Automatic, since my MB E270 CDI has a automatic transmission. I can't say I always love the AT box, but is right in it's element in city centers, where you'd have to be swinging the stick all the time on a manual box. In games I use manual in every single situation, there is no other way. When using manual, the lap times depend on me and me alone (unless a rock rips out the suspension, which could be my fault as well).
Or just leave the car in second gear... My car can *just* pull away in 4th. Can pull away without having to press the throttle in 2nd. Chances are in stop start traffic where you will supposedly be swinging the stick back and forth you arent going to get out of 2nd gear anyway and the few places you will won't be inconvenient. I have no problem with manuals in stop start traffic.
In my opinion manual will always be better than automatic. It's a fact that now automatics and semi-automatics with that double clutching system and stuff shifts better, faster, and all that stuff. But manual is man-machine connection, gets you in control of the car and all that stuff. Sadly we now have too many great manufacters using autos, most likely forcing them through the field. For example, Porsche, Mercedes / AMG, Ferrari... high performance cars that once had manual, ripped it out for automatic transmisssions.
i tried to drive automatic (Audi A6 with 2.5 TDI) one time and i didn't like it (jerky shifts, slow starts, turtle acceleration and the engine is screaming like crazy), i drive stick for 8 years now and i love it (even when transmission is f**ked and you can't find some of the gears )
Der Wagonius has a 5 Speed ZF Automatic. It's ok, because it's a big tank and the auto works really well. My E30 has a Getrag 260 5 M/T tis win. but basically I hate any small cars with Automatics, they're just boring. Any sort of fun car should be Manual, something like a daily or a generic car Auto is fine, Manual cars also cost more here, since people love their rubbish ex-Japan imports which are basically all automatic. Would have Manual for everything, but since the vehicle costs more with manual it's just easier not to care.
y engaging I do not own a car (yet), but my mom drives a Saturn LS2 with a V6 and a slushbox, and it does not feel very fast in the shotgun seat. My mom actually drives pretty fast, but it just does not feel that way. My dad drives a '00 Focus with a 5 speed 1.6 SPI, and it actually feels pretty fast compared to the car with an extra 70 HP on tap. It's just the auto, but I prefer manuals so much more for more feel and control while driving. #SaveTheManuals
I have said before.. I love Manuals because well you get the freedom to choose what RPMs you shift at not at a computer controlled 3000rpm you shift up at...I hate that if I am driving a car with a redline of 6000rpm I wanna use all the RPMs possible to choose when I shift but thats my preference really...
Drove so far Chrysler Crossfire Automatic, Peugeot 206 Automatic, Toyota Yaris Automatic and BMW 3's E90/E92 Automatic and a 2 old Toyotas with Manual ... i prefer Automatic though i switch them to manual-mode most times
i drive a 1994 chevy halfton which is automatic and my winter car (michigan) and my summer cruiser is a 1991 firebird formula with a 5 speed 305 v8
