I am really questioning this :/

    Need for Speed : Hot Pursuit 2010, player + 5 or 6 ai cars @ 1920x1080 with 8x AA and 16x AF = 80FPS
    City Car Driving, player + 40 traffic cars @ 1920x1080 with 8x AA and 16x AF = 65FPS
    Next Car Game, 24 cars @ 1920x1080 with 8x AA and 16x AF = 60FPS

    Then this :

    BeamNG @ 800x600 with 0xAA and 0X AF = 30FPS
    BeamNG @ 1920x1080 with 0xAA and 0X AF = 10FPS
    BeamNG @ 1920x1080 with 4xAA and 8X AF = 0-2FPS

Why does BeamNG lose almost 5fps per 100 pixels rendered?

thats more than 100 pixels :p

I don't know, maybe your cpu is overheating? Or your gpu is?

I don't think nfs, city car driving, or ngc are particularly demanding on the graphics front but I know beamng with postfx on is. Maybe your computer just doesn't have enough cojones. What arre the specs?

    r7 250 looks a tiny bit slower than a 7770... can a 7770 play this game at 1080?

A 7770 can play this game on medium-low settings with about 30-40 steady fps on dry rock island. I don't know why you get so bad fps?

I think he's getting these frames because I heard that this game was CPU heavy, and he might need a better CPU

This game demands a high end cpu for the thousands of calculations it has to do constantly, and a high end gpu for highest settings, AA is expensive, postFX is expensive too. 1080p requires a lot of power and more than 1gb Vram. Any modern game out there needs +2 gb Vram for 1080p, and definitely a R7 250 being a low-mid end card is not meant for 1080p gaming. If you want to play BeamNG at steady +60 fps you'll need to upgrade both gpu and cpu.

Open up the FPS window (Ctrl+F) and press J to pause the physics. If your FPS goes up, it's your CPU bottlenecking the GPU. If your FPS stays the same, lower the settings. (Make sure postfx is off and lower the lighting setting.)

I need to OC so I don't have this happen as drastically, lol. I need to learn doe. Also, just how much of an FPS killer is AA? I hate the jaggies and I love the smoothies.

Its hard to predict as it can vary by scene and its relationship between resolution and performance is slightly exponential (as are increased settings). Try it on the lowest option and increase until the fps drops, then drop it down a notch or 2.

I get about 20% CPU usage when I'm running 2 cars, So It's not that :/

And if I can render Forza Autovista cars (300 000 + polygons) at 60fps then why not the 50 000 BeamNG puts out at 2fps? it really really bugs me. :/

Hm I stay at around 50 degrees Celsius when running the game. That's 25 away from near overheating.

You forget the fact that beamng cars are doing tons of calulations per second. And if your cpu usage with 2 cars is at 20% then something is wrong.

    Does clock speed matter? e.g. i7 920@2.66 vs i5@3.6+

That depends on the generation. An i7 920 @2.66 is slower than an i5 2500k @2.66. And yes, clock speed matters, especially when the cpu is bottlenecking.

It means that component is bringing the FPS down at that point. Which seems reasonable, because an i3 is slow... My old laptop had an i3 and it felt super slow even without playing any games. Can't imagine that even a newest gen desktop i3 would suddenly be suitable to run a CPU-intensive physics sim with...

Also, most(if not all) games will slow down at higher resolution, which is normal. 10fps for those steps seems a bit harsh though(but I could be wrong). Maybe both your graphics card and your cpu slow it down? Like, maybe they're reasonably evenly matched for running BeamNG?

You say that you're losing 5fps per 100 pixels, meaning that there's a 400 pixel difference between 10fps and 30fps, being 1920x1080 and 800x600 repsectively. It's definitely NOT a 400 pixel difference, in fact, the difference between 1920x1080 and 800x600 is 1,593,600 pixels, making the framerate loss a tad more understandable.

Losing 20fps going from minimum to maximum resolution sounds about right.

So what should I expect with a i7 920 and 800x600 resolution? And with multiple cars would it be different? i7=8 threads, right?

And doesn't an i3 have 4 threads as well?
