I get about 27 - 37 FPS with my settings all on high except for the resolution and lighting also with PostFX system off. Is there a good way of improving that FPS to about 50 - 70 with a budget of under $100? I would really like to be able to raise my lighting and resolution without getting my FPS killed in the process.

    My specs are:

    Windows 8 laptop
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3120M CPU 2.50GHz
    RAM - 4.00GB (3.89 GB usable)
    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

    Thanks, Msurf15

You should just wait for the next update because the devs say that there's a 25% or so performance improvement.

There are almost no options for upgrading a laptop, so I'd do what Cwazywazy said. Wait for the Race Update.

I get up to about 70fps with a few human sacrifices to this game...so I would expect around 87.5fps but thats if I am lucky so I get around 40 to be honest so I would be looking at 50fps...or so..

Its a laptop so your *only* options (hardware wise) are usually more RAM or storage, neither of which will improve your FPS. CPU's and GPUs are non removable.

This update is massive :D I cant wait till they release it...the semi truck is going to totally rip through a covet :D

So I have an old dell computer (not including the monitor) and it literally died, like the computer doesn't even turn on :D. If I were to completely gut it and add new stuff like a new graphics card, hard drive, and pretty much everything else what would you guys recommend? 'talking to all of you' :)

Depends on its age really. The sockets used within desktop PC's for the CPU and RAM are evolving all the time. CPU is almost guaranteed to be junk worthy which then necessitates a new motherboard, if its old it may be using DDR2 RAM not the current DDR3 so new RAM aswell.
If it doesnt turn on, usually motherboard or powersupply, there should be at least a status LED somewhere internally if the power supply works, so if there isn't one then chances are you would need a new power supply.

Chances are the useful components are optical drive, hard disk and possibly case. If its new enough then *possibly* RAM. If its too old then the optical drive may even be IDE in which case add that to the shopping list too.

Old PC's are best not upgraded in my opinion.

    Sorry about this bump.

But there are some hardware wise modifications to laptops that may make it go faster
a)CPU's are 80% most of the time removable, If you can find one it may be worth the upgrade (I did in my laptop)
b)Typical hard drive are SLOWW, I bought a solid state ($80 for 128gb) drive and it made everything run faster, might help loading jbeams and stuff
c)RAM is a necessity for BeamNG it uses ALOT. I bought 16GB RAM for my PC for playing games like this (while doing 20000 other things lol)

Also for that old DELL it would be hundreds of $$ to get new parts

Almost all laptops in the last decade are exclusively using CPU's in BGA packages directly soldered to the motherboard. Sockets are incredibly rare with a mere handful of models ever using them. Socketed GPU's are rarer still. Its closer to 80% of the time non removable, and that would be an underestimate.
BeamNG doesn't exactly use loads of ram, its capped at 4 as is, although with OP having 4 for entire system that may be problematic, but on his settings it won't be using 4.
Hard drives don't effect frame rates.

Upgrading a laptop is generally never a good idea. Hell, even cleaning the heatsink and other insides of your pc is risky as hell. Changing your CPU is impossible because its almost always welded into your heatsink and same with your GPU as a laptop is meant to fit that specific video card and swapping it would again be very risky.

So basically you need a new computer, :p also this will benefit you in other ways as well because you'll have a faster, newer, and just plain better computer for Gaming, and every day stuff. Trust me it is a good idea to just get a new DESKTOP PC NOT a Laptop. now I know that you know that I use a Laptop, but at that, I use a very nice Laptop. So here is a good PC that you could get. DESKTOP GAMING PC This is a good one if you get the middle or highest it will be what you expect.

If you're lucky you could replace the power supply and motherboard if it it's an ATX type and install a good system in your old case

Alienware is just another pre-built pc with an inflated price.

Exactly. You could build a PC twice as good for half the price.
