Eh, idk. Possible sources for names would be space age stuff and wartime stuff. In the 1950s the world was not far past ww2, and the United States was finding more conflicts to get into. Wartime stuff was finding its way into car design (Cadillac and its tail fins,) and towards the 60s, the space race was getting bigger and more important in the minds of Americans. Personally the winning name atm, Vendetta, doesn't do this car much justice. It's like a personal European spirited rocket ship in my eye versus a (quite literally,) overrated American muscle car.
Here's the list of names that you might like: Gavril Liberator Gavril Corsair Gavril Skyrocket Gavril Avenger Gavril Ventura Gavril Sentinel Gavril Commando Bruckell Mohawk
1; interesting... Wikipedia turned up some less child friendly references when I typed that one in, but has plenty of wartime meaning and significance to it. 2; nope, Edsel had a Corsair model. 3;Not very car like, And calling it Road Rocket wouldn't be too good either, especially if you wanna throw insurance into the mix 4; Dodge is a b****, aren't they? 5; Pontiac already claimed it. 6; I like it, also reminds me of a Judas Priest song, "The Sentinel" 7; Not really car like imo 8; meh, I turned down speedbuck because I didn't think it was very clever, and the name of the corvette was set in the 50s, so Mohawk would not seem time period correct, especially if this car is going to have had previous generations, which I am considering doing as a separate mod You have a couple good ones, though adding more names to the poll is right now a useless thing. I will do so anyway... --- Post updated --- I mistyped a poll name suggestion option on mobile, so I am asking Nadeox1 to remove it. I am not adding it back, I think there are plenty of other name suggestions that are worth considering. --- Post updated --- Well I decided I wanted to try adding a landau vinyl top on this, since you guys want more stuff that wasn't really part of the actual C3 vettes; I need a bit more chrome trim to encase the bottom sides still. It is color changeable, and is its own part. Today I plan on getting the rest of the interior in game and UV'd, add the fuel cap cover, and possibly start finalizing the lights textures.
On the subject of engines... Keep in mind that the C3 ran through both the horsepower wars AND the '73 oil crisis. The 68 'Vette started out with the choice of a 300 HP 5.4l small block or a 400HP 7.0l big block, and that was the most power the C3 ever came with from the factory (besides special cars) The C3 ended up with only one engine option after the 427 ci big block was dropped in 1975, so the 75 'Vette only had a 5.7 l small block detuned to 165 horsepower.(there was an option for a less detuned 205 hp 5.7) things didn't improve much either, as by 1982, the 5.7 was giving only 200 hp. Also interesting, the Astrovette, In 1969, General Motors leased three special edition Corvette Stingrays for astronauts Pete Conrad, Richard F. Gordon, Jr., and Alan Bean of the Apollo 12 mission. All three units sported a gold and black paint scheme chosen by Bean and were leased to them for US$1.00 a year. (wikipedia) It would be neat to make special 'Astrosporter' and an 'oil crisis special' configs. Also, if we can get it UV'd, I'd like to see a remake of the iconic 1978 pace car. on the subject of distancing from the corvette, why not put a small round window in the sail panel? you could add a bit of a retro styled tail fin (just a tiny bit) to mix up the trunk line, and maybe some small side skirts.
I agree with the various engine choices, it will be interesting to see the very powerful engine options along with some of the more fuel efficent underpowered motors. Another cool feature would be a restomod variant with a more modern engine like an LS or something to make something unique. For that you could modify the model of the dseries with a different intake and valve covers to make it more "stylish". This would allow people to make a cool modernised version. I like how the body has turned out and the ideas of mixing the Banshee. Keep it up
I like the Barsette variant cause it sounds almost like Barchetta. Didn't read some of the previous pages, so I missed the moment when this name was suggested. Maybe it was inspired by Barchetta anyway btw, do you have any plans on doing side exhaust? At least for top level trim or some custom config I think it would make Gavril look different and at the same time still very Corvette-ish A bit of offtopic: didnt expect to see Judas Priest mentioned here XD
I believe someone already suggested the side exhaust. Altho i cant recall if it was to be done or not.
I am kinda tired today, and probably will be for the next several days whist I try to restore a normal sleep pattern. So most of what I will be doing will be simplistic. Interesting. I was planning a set of configs for each model year (1964-1972 if I do Banshee style headlights, 1968-1972 if I do normal Corvette style headlights,) so the Astrovette inspired config could be added in with one of the later sets. Hmm. The porthole in the side of the roof could be done on a hardtop convertible. I am already preparing to make a hardtop convertible out of this as an option. Tailfins are a no no. They were practically gone by the early 60s, only remaining prominently on Cadillacs and a couple other cars. Side skirts are also a no no on a car like this. Side exhausts might have been suggested, idk. They were actually a factory option on the cars with the bigger V8s I believe. I could be wrong though. Also, Judas Priest is one of my favorite metal bands Personal taste I guess.
Striker sounds sick! Put that as a chevy, Chevy Striker, it makes it sound like a really exotic sports car
You know, I've never heard of the 1964 Pontiac Banshee concept until it was mentioned here. I only knew about the late 80's fourth one, and I had heard about the Perrentti Coupe (basically an Australian Corvette clone from what I've dug up) because of one being used in Mad Max: Fury Road. I kinda wonder what would've it been like if the first one became a production vehicle. Apparently the reason why it didn't is because General Motors didn't want a Corvette killer, they only wanted a car that'd take on the Mustang. I like the sound of that, but I think Gavril Vendetta is the most fitting name for this car. It has that Vette ring to it while doing something new at the same time IMO. Plus I think there's been enough name suggestions. I could take all these suggestions and really brainstorm some new BeamNG inspired cars. In fact I might do that. I welcome drawing more after I did the Bruckell Zodiac (a Dodge Aries based car). I was hoping you'd still do Corvette headlights. That's how I would've done it, with the Banshee and Corvette headlights serving as predecessor and successor, or vice versa. In the end, it'd be just like the Moonhawk's use of headlights. Portholes on a Corvette? I'm interested in seeing what that looks like.
