I dont know if we could use less track. As it stands the race circuit is OK considering its max speed and lenght compared to real circuits, a lil bit short, but the issue i think is that they are using 2km X 2 km instead of 4 km X 4 km layout.
I'm with Dr. D on that one, I really feel that WCUSA would've greatly benefited from being larger. It makes me really wonder what Italy will feel like; right now it seems like a giant field with a couple of tiny towns. Hopefully Italy will set a new standard for official map sizes if we get any more after it. I really wish the dedicated drift track stayed and a standard length asphalt oval and a clay oval were included. The forest area and suburb area are both kinda small too, and it seems that the island could've been used (maybe it will be some day). (I know I've been complaining a lot about stuff but don't get me wrong, I do love WCUSA overall)
I have high hopes for italy because it seems like its gonna take less stuff. Take a look around WCU. There are many different things, a fire dept, a hospital, several shops with different specialties, highway section, a different asphalt track sections, a dirt track, a dragstrip, and so on. It seems like the main focus of WCU wasn't about making a great map to move around, but rather to have a single map in which you could stick most of the story mode important parts, else you would have to have loading screens between maps to make it work. Italy, however, seems like it doesn't has that kind of pressure, it has less things and it feels more aesthetically pleasing, like it has a single biome and objective in mind, so i think it will feel better.
There's definitely plenty of place for airport in WCUSA and it's weird it wasn't added because in Italy there will be airport... maybe someday
Did anyone already mention, that every single smaller object on the world are static ? I was hoping to see, that we could knock off the fire hydrant poles from the sidewalks, but no, they're like concrete when you bash them.
I have to disagree with you guys, i actually like the layout of the map. City, Suburb, Forests, Highways, Racetracks, they have all put it into 1 map which works pretty good IMO. Yes, if it was bigger they could add more country roads, made the city bigger et cetera, but that would cause even more lag. I think they did a good job making it a size where it doesnt lag too much, and putting everything into that map size.
Yup, some people really don't like that OT: Unplayable, but I don't feel like I'm missing much. I like woodsy trails, this one you're done with in a minute and a half. I like cities, this one you can't really hold a race in. It's all too crammed. I'd rather just have 2x2 of city, woods or racetracks. That way older pc's could run the city too. I really hope they're going in a different direction for Italy.
I do, but then the signboards aren't easter eggs. “珠宝店” = jewellery shop “咖啡店” = coffee shop “礼品店” = gift shop "超市” = supermarket And IDK the rest because I don't really notice that small stuff in-game.
I really didn't like it. Imo, i just think it's just too cramped to be a good map. Performance is just utterly trash and I think I could go on and on about things. I just think the map could have wait.
"Incoming" is a broad term, it's 4 times the size of WCUSA and was only revealed a month prior. I think this time next year is the earliest reasonable release expectation.
So this map is still one of my favorites as it's quite detailed, adds a larger and faster major circuit, and a number of major urban environments and set pieces we didn't officially have until now. I do agree with the criticisms that some areas cut off awkwardly and lead to the map feeling smaller than it actually is. It does feel like it could use some tricks with wrapping the roads around the map so you can drive them in a less interrupted way, and I hope the closed tunnel is used to complete a highway circuit or something similar. I would also love to see the industrial dock warehouse opened up and modeled so it can be used for gymkhana, especially since it'd be the closest area to that popular Ken Block gymkhana 2 video visually. The thing I was disappointed by though wasn't the road cutoffs or inaccessible bridge and tunnel, it's that the extremely iconic coastal highway roads of California only got this small stretch of 6 turns before it immediately dives into a completely different industrial environment. I feel like there is no other environment on the entire map that got less representation, and it's one of my favorite environments unfortunately.
1 full year? unlikely. The map is far into development and looks like it will be done by the Q1 of 2018, maybe january? And its not 4 times the size of WCU. Its either 2km x 2 km or 4 km x 4 km
