So update 0.11 is mostly great, great physics improvements and, despite my abysmal frame rate on West Coast, USA, I'm astonished by the detail, complexity, and realism of that map. However, I'm very disappointed by the changes in sound design, particularly the engine sound. My custom Barstow configurations sounded heavenly and beastly before this latest update, but they now sound muted, flat, subdued. It sounds like many of the higher frequencies have been attenuated, resulting in a darker overall sound. Listed in the Devblog post on the new update is "Several minor filter, volume, reverb and distance attenuation adjustments", so I guess we can attribute these changes to that, but they're NOT minor. The difference in sound actually severely affects my enjoyment of the game, believe it or not. And no, before anyone asks, I am certain I did NOT adjust my computer audio between playing the last version and this one. Who else liked the sound design better before the update? Also, side note: who knows what changing the "soundscape" in the car config actually does? I can't tell any difference between 5 soundscapes, or even between having them on or empty.
Can you record a video so that we can hear what you are hearing? Whatever happened there, is not intentional (here they sound as before, not heavily muffled). Maybe it's some mod you are using? Soundscape modify the set of sounds (horn currently) used by the vehicle.
I'm not well versed enough to record any gameplay, but I'll try disabling all my mods and see if it sounds normal, thanks for the reply!
Yes, I hate the new sounds. They are really annoying. Sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Is there a way to disable this sounds?
So, sadly, deactivating all of my mods didn't seem to help the audio quality. I even reinstalled some that I knew were pretty old, and so might be causing glitches, but it sounded the same, whether they were activated or not. The funny thing is, it seems to be only the engine sounds that have changed, crash sounds are still clear and ringing, and even seem much louder than the engine sounds, so it's definitely not a badly timed speaker malfunction or loss of my own hearing, since it still reproduces clear sound from other things, and I still hear it. It really sucks cause the harsh, spitty, raspy 423 V8 with a stage 1 supercharger was a delight to behold, replete with all kinds of high frequency crackles and pops.
I Don't have that loud power drill sound I changed it to a old JDM Turbo sound mod. Until the bug is fixed, i'll keep the jdm turbo
how did you get the turbo sounds to work i installed it and it is being taken over by the vacuum cleaner --- Post updated --- how did you get the turbo sounds to work i installed it and it is being taken over by the vacuum cleaner
damn....... im really bummed because i feel like i cant enjoy the awesome new map with all the audio bugs...
Just a thought, but instead of editing the file in the archive, can't you just make your own archive of the same name, and replace the entire thing? There probably isn't a password for just moving the thing
I can live with the sound. Just something for anyone like Blueflame who say they don't feel that they can enjoy the new map with the audio
