i love this map! its awesome! huge! lots of new stuff! it runs great on my computer! and its just all-out awesome!
I love it! WCUSA is definitely my favorite map by far. I've been waiting for a map like this (with a city, mountain, race track etc all in one) for a long time. I think they did a great job. There are a few things that need to be fixed though, especially in the neighborhood. Also, I do wish that the touge mountain was bigger, and I wish that we could drive to that island by the city. It would be cool if the island had at least a gas station and a couple of stores/houses on it. The map runs pretty fantastic on my PC, I get anywhere from 75-120 FPS with one or two cars on an i7 6700k, GTX 970. I think the race track layouts are awesome, the main track has a lot of little influences from real courses. Such as a corkscrew similar to Laguna Seca. The drift track is awesome too. I do wish the off road circuit was wider, but the layout is cool.
I think it's the best map yet, although I dont like the high number of blocked roads.. but that can be fixed in the future updates
PSA: if you are experiencing performance issues with WCUSA, try turning off dynamic reflections. Went from 12fps to 45fps for me!
I have the same thought as you about the edges of the maps. As they did with Utah, they couldve made 1 or 2 roads leading out of the map. And there added the barriers. But you see the same barriers every 30 seconds because they made way to many roads leading out of the map. Its a great map IMO, only that needs inprovement.
Well, after using WCA for a while, I can say that this is quite a good map, if taken as a map where you can explore many things within one area. Spoiler: LOADS OF SCREENS First thing's first, the pump jacks are animated! It's really fun watching these things squeak and rock as they collect oil. Also awesome: the Lens Flare Studio. That's a really nice touch. Let's just say that I went a bit too crazy with Ctrl + P right here.... I think the best of these would have to be the Pigeon sale sign. The tire shop has some nice detail to it, as well. I'm not sure if you're going to be viewing any mountains with this motel. Movie posters... ...a Turbo Burger restaurant with a drive-through.... ...and animated traffic lights! Turns out that this is called "H.R. Jefferson Imports, New and Used". I'm sure that this will come in handy during career mode. Theater and its showings. I'm not sure how popular Peekaboo or Hush would be. Construction... All of the beauty shops. I'm not sure what "Arsenic" sells, though... *waves intensify* Fizzo-Pop... Hospital. More construction. Now, what is going on here?! This building has a ramp built into it, and it's so wavy that it looks like it's melted harder than the '96 Pessima did. Igloominaty! Interesting...so APEX is a competing brand in the gas industry, I see... That port looks a lot nicer than JRI's, that's for sure... Physics-defying buildings?! What?! More city... This temple looks fascinating... More graffiti... ...on an old fire station. Not sure what that tall building in the middle is supposed to be... My recreation of an old picture. And yes, the flag is animated. This is a really nice old restaurant. This graffiti is interesting... I just don't like how these roads are ended...it looks so cheap placing barriers there. Perhaps if there was a less-cheap way of ending the roads, then it would be better. I assume Mount Wallis is the name of the touge mountain. Also, these signs look amazing. This tunnel....I wish it looped around to go back to Belasco, since it only ends about 100 feet in. If it looped around, then that would expand the amount of exploration that I could do in here even more. This screenshot, though...I really like it. Just seeing Mount Wallis, and then looking at a Belasco that's seemingly far into the distance...that's awesome. What kind of seating is this?! Power station is nice. Not sure what to say about these....especially not the awkwardly-merged buildings. Parking garage! Too bad I can't enter it. Chinatown in all its computer-breaking glory. So, I decided that I might as well take my '96 Pessima around this map, and I came across a few more things. This makes no sense! Who would put a fire hydrant so close to a mailbox?! The entrance to the wavy-roofed building. Me, actually behaving myself for once while driving in Beam. Found the Gavril dealership...I wonder what other brand-specific dealerships we will get, and how much importance this dealership will have to career mode. Perhaps this is where we will purchase our Gavrils and get them fixed? Another competing gas company. More graffiti These buildings look interesting. I came across another awkward map end... ..and found a new Beam brand by the name of "Build-A-Lot". More construction... This Pessima doesn't really fit into the ghetto area of Belasco (which looks quite nice, to be honest), so I decided it was time to switch to a Moonhawk V8 with the three-speed auto. Fire station once again. This building near the fire station is rather interesting, IMO. Not sure what it is. More details. More well-made ghetto area. This is a nice detail. In my opinion, this diner should have been given a more specific name. Just having it as a "diner" makes the whole thing seem rather unrealistic. Liquor store and other run-down buildings. More screens of the tire shop, and I think that New/Used now says "Nesed". "Welcome to Paradise". I'm not sure about that (for my laptop, at least). Moonhawk at Mountainview. What's this doing here?! Another run-down building, possibly an apartment complex. Mild drifting. This ending, I think, is the best of the lot. It has an actual reason to end like that that isn't just the limitations of the map's size. Very realistic here. The suburbs are quite a nice place to speed around and hop curbs... *Eurobeat intensifies* These backroads are quite fun to drive on, as well. And another sign. Overall, WCA is a rather nice map for what it is, but its unnatural and semi-restricting map ends, crampiness compared to the amount of stuff in it, and a couple other things aren't helping its cause. It also doesn't run as badly as I thought it would on my computer, but it doesn't run as well as ECA does.
The map honestly seems unfinished, there are many unfinished parts and there are no working street lights whatsoever. That being said it's still awesome
BeamNG Is still in early access? And it's already looking amazing? can't imagine the game when it's fully done...
