Sorry guys for the delay in updates, do to some complications I have been forced to learn blender, and i'm happy to say, i'm picking up on it decently.. I had finished the sketchup mesh and the rims, bumper, chassis modifications, and exhaust didnt port over... So I am going to try to make this stuff in blender.

Just a pic of me trying to align the rims im working on in blender.

    6lt2Z.jpg

Not that bad since i'm getting the hang of it, still a million things to learn though.

I will try to follow in your footsteps. How hard exactly is it to transfer from SU to Blender? I said earlier that the videos have not exactly gotten to me yet. I will probably have to wait until I can properly think straight, and not just do what I did today (even I could tell that my posts today were a bit less than my normal maturity).

I honestly dont know how to do the transfer, you would be better off just starting fresh in blender, from what I've seen getting proportions can be difficult.. My best guess is for you to learn the basic camera controls where you feel comfortable navigating around your mesh, then discover the tools, common ones like scale (s), extrude (e) control the faces on your mesh like offset and push pull do in sketchup. Learn on the bottom the selection tools where you can select the vertexes, lines, and faces. Selecting those all you to select only those specific parts of a mesh. Makes it easier if you want to modify a certain face or line or whatever..

Start a new project, delete the cube and shift-a and create a circle mesh, play with it with the tools I told you.

Here is how you play similar to sketchup.

Lets say you have an offset circle thats been scaled down like i did in my wheels im making. You want to draw a line from one dot(vertex) to the other.. Select a vertex to start with, hold control key, select the vertex you want to draw a line too, When you have both selected, press (f), it draws a line between them. Also with just 1 vertex selected you can draw a line from it by pressing (e) when you have it selected.

Thats kinda the basics drowsy has taught me so far. I know reading a wall of text and then trying it elsewhere is hard but I hope that helps.
    ---

Laugh all you want but this taught me the best. I wrote it down on paper with simple quick diagrams.. After writing this down and studying it, I didn't even have to look at the paper but maybe once or twice and I was going strong.

Yes drowsy, thats the note page I wrote lol.

Looks good those wheel and rest progress. And I just came for about wheel because it looks simple. In fact, Rota's are actually copy most of popular wheel with crap aluminum to make it easlier break. Sorry for off-topic.
Well if you want more detailed similar that wheel, Hayashi Street is the since it has similar wheel design. Only about 5.8k tris per wheel, untexture.

I'm aware rota are copy cats and they actually have very solid quality. Had some grids on my first car. Looked brand new 2 years later. And thanks but I really want to model everything for this Car I know the pictures you see are rough. They will be getting cleaned up before they get stuck on the car.

Sorry guys been busy today not able to do much, just added some depth to the spokes just needs the back side done. Anyone know how I can smoothen some of these edges?

    6meJ9.jpg

realizing now I should have used more vertexes but im way past that stage..

Well, for smoothing the wheel, you need select all vertex/edges then hit smooth button, then go to the wrench thingy that called Object Modifier which they are useful stuff for when you modeling that make more perfect. And I recommend the angle start at 50, also if you found your mesh was too smooth or something, try lower the angle until you are happy. if you notice why I blocked the apply thing in pic because they separate some edge as sharp edge. If necessary to export as DAE, apply them in object mode before exporting the mesh. I hope it help :p

I'm away from my pc right now.. But I think I tried to do edge split one time and it changed the whole tire. Selecting just the edges and vertex's and clicking smooth on the left menu options and with them still selected apply that modifiyer?

Re: JDM's Covet Expansion Pack! - Update! 1/15 Blender Progress!!

I am now making a lattice cube that I will be using as an all-in-one tutorial for myself. Making it will help me with placing stuff, and I can save an original copy that can be used in a multitude of ways. From extrusion to modifying it completely into some sort of thing, then texturing it (as I learn it), then maybe I could make it into my first vehicle on BeamNG! Probably gonna be some very low poly box-ish car, with a very simple Jbeam, so I don't bore myself to death with the locations and fancy numbers involved.

I will be extremely happy if I can push through and do the above!

Little update, I'm a little slow at blender but picking up speed. Having to remake the exhaust and the rear bumper do to failed import from sketchup.

Very nice! I do have one question. How do I create a node to start out my own shape? If possible?
And yes, I have the cube latticed and I can now extrude things the way I want. I think I have latched onto Blender before it was too late. I may only know about 4 things on Blender, but if I can make a cube into something that isn't a cube, I am fine, and I can learn from there.

To create your own node theres multiple ways I know of.. 1. Select a vertex and press E and drag to desired location, while dragging it you can press x,y, or z to only make the edge in a specific axis. The very useful tool that can be used for a lot of things is the Loop Cut and Slide tool. select the face or edge you want to split and hit CTR-R to split it. Very handy and it came in use for me to make the fitment around the muffler as you can see in this pic..

    6nDEu.jpg <-update :p

this show the faces and edge and such of the area. Just modified the rear bumper some to support the "factory" muffler.

The latest picture of the rear bumper was a little off, had to pull the bumper out some to match to design lines so it wouldnt be indented. I think i got it pretty even.

    Now finished:

    Turbo Downpipe

    6nHxe.jpg

Waiting on drowsy to see if I need to model anything else. I will smooth the parts out some to give it a cleaner finish.

Got Bored and Redid the muffler. Looks much better now imo..

    6nJwV.jpg

Still gotta run the pipe from muffly' to the otha muffly'

JDM's Covet Expansion Pack! - Update! 1/17 New Stuff

Thats how modeling,94 really anything else is Cralk. You get better over time.

Thats it my phone has officially bricked. Can't even go through iFunny without waiting 20 seconds for the creen to unfreeze. It said 94 onstea of or and cralk instead of clark. I think it is also because I am in such need for sleep. Sorry sleep. Internet is life.

Are you going to try to put the Bolide's engine in the front of the Covet, or put the Covet body over the Bolide's frame? The last option is possible since the wheelbase is about the same, the Bolide is just wider. (I tried it but my 3ds max kept crashing)

Oh sorry I thought you mentioned somewhere your Covette would be a Covet/Bolide combo, guess I had it wrong then :p pretty interested in seeing the actual Corvette engine in the Covet. I wonder if it fits. What's the Corvette's engine like compared to the ones in the Moonhawk and the Gavrils? I know those sort of fit, except they might be a little high for the Covet's hood.
