While I'm not a massive fan (I love me a good old crown vic) the Ford explorer police interceptor dose just about everything a police car would need. Its all wheel drive, lots of room which is good for holding suspects or moving a squad of officers, respectable 0-60 for a large vehicle and a good roadblock type of vehicle. The only thing it don'st do well is vehicle chases are rapid response situations (aka bomb threats, suicide attempts, hostage situations, in progress kidnapping, or in progress robbery). But for a searching, off road pursuit vehicle, roadblock vehicle, riot control, suspect transport, vehicle rescue, bad road patrol (snow, high water, mud, ect.) and basic patrol. Now that's just the best overall police car I know of but there are more specialize police cars that do better in certain situations. A lot a European police cars seem to share the same problems from my point of view (I'm not from any European country) and that is their a lot better a fuel economy and tight roads. Their a bit better then the american counterparts at top speed and 0-60mph or in metric 0-100kph. But they fail at durability and are not designed for long bumpy, hard hitting and or eradicate chases. What I mean by this is that from what I can tell most European city's, towns, or country s police vehicles and officers don't use pit maneuvers. Now their are many types of police cars such as interceptors-high speed pursuit vehicles (actual ones not just in name) Which can be used as traffic patrol vehicles but are not good without another car to transport suspects if one is arrested. There are also city police cars such as Nissian Leaf You also have areas with a lot of dirt roads so you may need a off road police vehicle But these are just some examples. Police vehicles need to do all of the above and more. So far I have yet to see a factory police vehicle to do all of those things but the Ford explorer police interceptor comes the closes to doing the most. A Ford crown victoria will not survive in the dirt as long at a Ford explorer police interceptor but the Ford crown victoria is easier to fix then any modern police car when one gets damaged.
