I see your reasoning running the input at the Screen FPS makes some sense now with it the thing that limits you is the screen so why have an input faster than the screen displays the image

To reduce input lag of course :)

This thread is making me LOL. Comments coming from both users and staff simply make no sense!

All hardware is designed to run as fast as possible (when it needs to), and would never shorten the lifespan of the hardware! Or at least no more than just having it running a game, regardless of FPS!

    Never heard of screen tearing?

Anyway, I'm in the same boat, I have weird micro stutters, even with a mid-range PC that should easily run the game with max settings. Just as a note, I can run ROTR with ultra settings and hair works enabled @ around 50 FPS @ 1080 and 40 FPS in 4K. However, my issue was resolved by using an older nvidia driver. The only issue then, the performance in other games was reduced and stability was then an issue. This was never an issue on my old R9 380.

I'd rather have reduced input lag and some tearing than unnecessarily high response times to my input...
Input lag is one of the main issues when it comes to people saying that the cars don't handle realistically.

That isn't "input lag" the input remains the same, what you're describing is frame latency, which isn't the same thing!

Call it whatever you want, fact is that the higher your framerates, the faster your input is being applied in-game, hence the term "input lag".

Just compare driving with a wheel at 30fps and 120 fps (full screen, not windowed) and you'll see what I am talking about about.

I agree, the end consequence seems the same, but it isn't the same thing, nor is the cause. Input lag caused by slow hardware isn't fixed by increasing the FPS (he simply can't). I'm not causing an argument, just stating your statement is incorrect.
Also, comparing 30 FPS to 120 FPS is obviously going to show differences in input delay, but the OP is experiencing input lag, and his hardware is unable to increase the FPS he's seeing, hence my comments. Also, telling the OP to do something that will clearly not help the OP is misleading.

Hm? My comments were solely about why it's beneficial to run higher framerates than what your screen actually supports. The OP doesn't even seem to have any input issues?

In any case, please excuse my use of the term "lag" when you seem to call it "delay" in this scenario, I'm not a native English speaker :)

this is totally off topic, but i prefer no screen tearing over better input speed, every single time it happens a little peice of me on the inside dies.

but really, i dont notice that much of a difference between input at a 60 frame limit and unlimited frames, even though steam says its running at 140+ fps
