looks really great, one of the more complete looking WIPs out there right now...this is a great alternative to the Covet, which is a real tin can, this car should (in theory) be a little more rigid (?) as in it wont deform as drastically in a 40MPH crash versus the Covet. Keep up the good work!!

I finished up the materials and textures. The lights don't quite work yet, but can be turned on through the material file (only the headlights). There's a few things I need to fix on the mod. Once those issues have been sorted out, hopefully I can release a beta.

@Mythbuster, if you go through and make that Country chassis, that'd be awesome. I'd love to offroad in one of these.

Are there still hubcabs for the Steelwheels availible?
Or will you make custom Volkswagen hubcabs/steelwheels?

Re: (UPDATE 1-5) '87 Volkswagen Golf Mk2 GTI

I've been messing with the materials for the past two days, and I finally made a MAJOR breakthrough with reflections. The car now has reflections, and the color can be changed in-game. I only tested it on a few small panels. Since it's working, I'll do the same for the rest of the exterior paint. More updates on the way.

    Please, don't rush the OP.
Let this be a high quality, well finished mod and not other rushed one because of lost of interest and/or impatient persons like you. Take it easy...
The Golf is my favorite car of all times (all versions pretty much) and I would prefer to wait and get a high quality mod, just like many others do to :)

I finally finished the materials for the paint, chrome, and mirrors. The side mirror's reflection is upside down (I have no idea why), but everything else looks MUCH better. I added some original GTI colors to the material file. Unfortunately, the colors are much brighter than they should be. As a result, the red colors look closer to pink. The silver and blue, which are pictured below, look a little better. You can pick your own color using the in-game material editor too. I also spent some time cleaning up the folder and files. I just need to finish cleaning the materials and change the names of the meshes. I've been struggling with changing the part names though.

The silver (Diamond Silver Metallic) is my personal favorite.

The blue color (Blue Mica) is a bit too bright, but it looks alright.

Here's a picture of the red (Tornado Red). It looks way too pink. I can't seem to get the color darker.

I also included a darker red (Red Mica), black (Black Graphite Metallic; not an option for the GTI, but it looks cool), and a custom neon green.

In the future, I plan on adding gauges and working lights. That will probably come after the beta release though. More updates soon!

"Tornado Pink" might be more accurate than you think :p

It was all single-stage paint, so most red mkIIs that weren't properly maintained are now either faded, or someone pink-ish in color.

Related note, I cannot wait for this to be finished. Keep up the great work.
