Wow that's expensive. But it's an expensive concept so I see why. Just curious how much would it cost if you made it 1:64 scale?
If you could PM me the file, I could ask my friend to print it, just scaled down. Your model probably is solid, hence the massive amount of filament used.
430 meters of filament? Are you filling the inside of it as well? What happens to that amount when you have a 15% infill?
I would love to put a 3D printed BeamNG shell on a micro RC car. Make the shell by printing it in separate parts for assembly or make it in a more traditional way and just cut out the interior supports.
A 1:64 scale version would take an hour, use 3500mm of filament, and the price would be $6.00 (according to that calculator, not 100% sure with it). I'll PM that to ya! Hopefully it's solid enough. I believe that was with 6% infill. It was about half the filament needed without the support material. That would be awesome! --- Post updated --- I can't upload the .stl file directly to the site. Here's a link to it on my Google Drive page for the folks that want to try it out. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-5UZtf0HSPOMjZHQlVnWUdlXzQ
Yeah, I'll see if I can get a space on the Boeing printer. It's pretty competitive, though so it might be a while.
I think 1:64 is the way to go. Either that or shrink-wrap plastic over a mold. That way you have a weak plastic you can do real crashes with when placed on an RC car
When I get the time I'm going to do all the BeamNG cars, only $6 and there is a UPS down the street that does 3D printing. I'm probably going to try learn how to do models and stuff soon and if not I can probably find someone who can do modeling for me.
i have a 3d printer at home and i really wanna 3D print a beam.ng car in lots of pieces, glue them together, and destroy them with a hammer!
Print away, my friends! When I get more time, I'll convert all of the stock game vehicles to .stl files and share them.
