My 8 year old son really wants to play this game so I need to find an affordable video card that will fit in a SFF desktop. (Hp elite 8200 i7 2600) Also need a new monitor as the old one died so if you have a recommendation or minimum specs that would also help. I live in Canada and don't want to pay anymore then $150. Your help would be greatly appreciated. He watches YouTube video of this game all the time. Thanks Teri
I have an RX 460 2GB and it runs almost maximum settings 1080p60, so I'd recommend a GTX750. That would probably run medium settings 1080p60, and would leave an 80ish dollar budget for a monitor. I don't have a monitor in that price range, so I can't help you there. I'm not entirely sure if it will fit, but if the PSU has 70ish watts to spare and a PCI-E x16 port, it should be good.
I'd recommend something like this RX 550: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137148&cm_re=rx_550-_-14-137-148-_-Product Not too sure about the power supply's capability. It should be powerful enough? The monitor would be tough in that price range though. You're best bet would be to look at Craigslist for one. Usually you can get something okay for ~$50. 1080p is ideal, but a 1050p or 900p panel would do the job.
Hello, I have a great suggestion. I have a GTX 1050Ti, it can run this game on max graphics, with dynamic reflections. They go for $150 USD. I hope your son has fun with this game, it's a very great game. Note: Make sure the socket type is the correct type before buying it.
680 is a housefire waiting to happen with a HP OEM PSU. Just get a 1050, powerful enough for Beam and not interesting for cryptotards thankfully.
http://a.co/73XI8qF @Teri This should be exactly what you're looking for. These HP machines are small, and this card comes with a half-size bracket, so it will fit. It's relatively low power so you can probably run it on the stock power supply too. I hope he enjoys playing the game. Oh, and that AMD card that @ClassyClassic recommended should be great too if you would prefer to go under-budget.
Do you not understand that a 680 is the absolute wrong card for this situation? It's a small form factor PC (aka it needs half height cards) and the PSU is most likely under 250W. Also the 680 has aged terribly.
I'm no expert, but I have a GTX750 and I run the game totally smoothly at 60 fps most of the time. I don't remember what graphics settings I am using, but the game looks good enough!
Oops. The $150 budget was just for the video card. I can spend about the same amount on a monitor so $300 total. --- Post updated --- It's only has a 240w ps and I can't find a bigger one that would fit in the case. --- Post updated --- 8 gigs of ram.
A proper 1080p 60Hz IPS monitor costs $90-110 240w PSU doesnt allow much graphics card to be used other than 30w ones like the GT 1030. Getting a new PSU (and leave it outside the PC) makes more sense to me, but you are the one making the decision. A proper 450w PSU costs $30-40. (GPUs I mention later will need the PSU upgrade) For brand new GPU, your budget is enough for a 1050ti at most. RX 560 costs about the same as the 1050 but is a bit faster, so dont get the 1050. Do keep in mind that you will need low profile versions of the cards in order to fit them in and fix them to the bracket properly. Otherwise you will have to let the PC lie on its side and the card will protrude outside the case and the side panel will have to stay off. If you are willing to get used then there's the 960, 760, R9 285, R9 380 etc. All a bit faster than the 1050ti, but they are used so they dont come with warranty that long (if they do). These cards dont come in low profile form factor at all, so they arent viable if you want the PC to look clean. 8Gb of RAM is enough.
This is exactly what I ended up buying. I've got everything up and running and my son has no complaints! Thanks for all the help!
