Man, the air quality where I'm at is terrible. All of Oregon is on fire right now, and the skies are so smoky that it's unbelievably awful to be outside.
New concept for my vaporware JRPG: there will be a good ending and a bad ending -- the good ending will be canon, of course. In the normal sequence of the game, you fight the fallen hero, apparently the final boss, only to find that he is not the true mastermind of the invasion. Rather, he was answering to none other than the Master of Hell, against whom you are powerless alone. Earth is overrun by undead cyborg tyrants and their armies. Game over, pal. Try again. However, there will be a Kindness stat. If your Kindness is high enough when you get to the fallen hero, you will be able to redeem him at the end of the battle. He will grant you the last of his power, and he will vanish. With this power, you will go on to crush the Master and his monstrous plan, and Earth will be saved. How will you get Kindness? I hope to implement side quests in such a way that they feel relevant to the story and not just bolted on. By completing these, you will earn Kindness points.
We just had 2+ weeks of thick smoke here in the Fraser Valley (BC Canada), which also went further south into the US. The smoke finally cleared a little while ago, but all of BC is still on fire. And this evening, I saw a bunch of smoke in the horizon in the south, probably from Oregon. I guess the US is just returning the favor by sending some of its own smoke back here.
At my university cafeteria, I have created a strange pink vanilla sludge tasting vaguely of cyanide. I don't like it. UPDATE: I'm still alive, so at least it was non-volatile cyanide compounds...
Life update: Got a laptop, a Gigabyte Sabre 15. Awesome laptop, I am loving it. Also got a DualShock 4, mainly to use with the laptop. I had a job interview today, waiting for a call back to find out if I got the job. It's a computer repair job, which I would really enjoy.
Just started a group about a racing championship, using procedurally generated tracks as our tracks. We'll see how this goes, but I'm excited for the 1st championship on Sept. 1st https://www.beamng.com/forums/beamng-racing-championship.466/
Didn't even notice the new logo Yeah, not so keen on it tbh, but I have no doubt I will get used to it.
