Here's vid of untouched game, recorded few minutes ago if you call this granny shifter sim (will be fhd 1080p60), then well, show me how you change gears faster irl, I can do it irl at max as fast as in that vid, it may be like 50-100 ms slower than on your vid with "mad throw" which is ~50-100% slower ( huge difference ) but I wouldn't call it slow at all. That what you uploaded is for me impossible to do while driving, even this guy in honda makes it slower than you in your car.

I guess you use a wheel? Well the delay isn't even there for wheel users. Try with keyboard or gamepad. If you were to shift that fast with a keyboard you would grind your gears. Pay attention

Theres a problem with audio on my end, when changing sources on my PC from speakers to headphones or vise versa (after running the game) the sounds break on next launch if they are a different sound source from what they were last time I played, so if i close the game with my speakers enabled on sound settings the headphones won't play sound right next time I launch (even if they are setup to in settings)

For example I will play the game with my speakers close it and then plug in my headphones, when I start the game the next time (PC restarts don't fix it) the sounds will be weird, like the engine sounds will remain but the tire skids, glass etc won't work at all and the interior sound damping won't function. Once I restart the game it will then start working again.

I use both when I play the game, depens on if I'm racing or doing some fun stuff. In that vid I used especially keyboard, look at the clutch UI.

edit: "pay attention" some shifts are made especially without clutch to present grinding

    edit2: @AX53
    1. I still can change gears really fast in base model of pessima,
    2. "staying on the gas" is called powershifting, to keep turbo pressure, when I race in my car I do exactly the same, yup it's (stupid? I don't care my car!) bad for transmission, powertrain and clutch but I change this stuff for myself, also it's recorded only for vid, not in every section of vid I stayed on the gas.
    3. Yup like I said - on purpose to present grinding

    Few things
    1. Yes the 6 speed race transmission has half the delay, but it shouldn't take a race transmission to be able to drive the car hard.
    2. Just because you stay on the gas doesn't make the shifts any better. The grinding occurs when you let out the clutch too fast.
    3. You did grind your gears in this video

But I had enough of this stupid argument now. I'm gonna set my shift time to 0 on all my transmissions and actually enjoy the game. Make a bad design choice if ya want.

And also some driving before the patch with this stupid delay was introduced. Good times :)

Great job on the update. Im glad we are finally seeing the devs efforts on this, even though no new cars/maps atm :).

As far as constructive comments: The new sounds sound great by themselves, but like others, I think that the mixing needs to be adjusted. The mixer in the menu helps, but engine sounds dont get loud enough to balance out the loud effects (crash/skid sounds especially).

One thing I think is really lacking soundwise is enough tire/road and wind noise when you are in vehicle. The inside filter on the sound awesome to have idea, but right now it filters out too much sound. Besides open top cars, I really think race trim vehicles shouldnt have much or any filtering.

The other thing is that my FPS has also dropped. It seems to be improving a bit after an hour of playing (its almost like its relearning the maps), but still a bit slower. Ive noticed that the grass/veg takes a bit longer to draw than before. Especially noticeable in jungle island. You can see things being drawn out in front of you as you approach them. The last time I noticed that happening was right around jungle island was first released.

Anyway, really. great job devs! Its a WIP and Im sure it will get sorted. Oh, and I love the piano :)

I've seen other posts saying this but on East Coast USA, I get around 30-35 FPS when I usually got around 50-60FPS. Please investigate and fix please :D

Why anyone thinks this gear shifting is realistic is beyond me.

Seems like a lost cause to dispute against it. Truly disappointing.

look, everyone calm down. So a hotfix will be released and you can stop whining. the devs just finished a big update, and what thanks do you give them ? "Oh this shifting is crappy." i'm disappointed.

You guys seem to be pressing the clutch before or at same time as pressing the shift button (unnecessary, you dont need the clutch to go from gear->N), but you are letting up the clutch before it finished simulating the throw from N->next gear, which takes time in the game as it does in real life. As a result, it gave you a grinding sound and a penalty in shift time. Which is a far better option than rejecting the shift which it really should do if we were to be honest, I mean, you tried to shift from N to gear with no clutch. The grind sound and penalty is to inform you that you made a mistake without completely ruining the flow like a shift rejection would.

So you think people with H shifters should be penalized for actually having to shift while you get instant shifting with a button? And that we should ignore physics and just give you a pass because you pressed the clutch button at some random moment near when you hit the shift button? We also need to make it fair to H shifter drivers who have to do actual work to shift, so they don't feel like they have to bind the clutch and shifter to buttons to be competitive. Frankly all it takes is some time to examine what is going on, and learn to press the clutch button a little later or hold the clutch button for a dozen more milliseconds.

There is a big variance of shift times in cars, mid 2000s Hondas are some of the fastest shifting oem cars out there, but you are also comparing them to a base spec 80s Honda. Cars with short shift kits are also faster which is why we reduced the time for race transmissions. It also has a lot to do with how big the transmission is, cars that have to handle more power through the gearbox tend to have more throw and slower acceleration of the shafts. It also takes longer to get through larger gear spacings (ie 1-2) because of the greater acceleration of the shafts needed to match the gear, which we are accounting for in the shifting time.

We will consider ways to make it more intuitive and faster in some situations but there is no fundamental realism issue here.

Where does BeamNG saves thumbnails from the App?
I checked in My Pictures and BeamNG.drive/screenshots and I can't find them.

you are right but 0.9 version was faster
in 0.10 its take like 5 second to shift for the right gear
they need to make it a little bit faster

But this is a single player game. I seriously fail to see why H-shifters have to be encouraged to the point where it ruins the game for keyboard users.

Not sure about "ignoring physics". The time it takes to shift is still set by how fast you can engage and disengage the clutch ultimately, only now you have to awkwardly shift up half a second before you actually intend to.

Again, I thought this was a single player experience. People who buy H-shiters do so for the increased driving experience. Not to compete against keyboard users. Plus, a logitech h-shifter can be shifted virtually instantaneous. It's not even a disadvantage.

I will make a public mod which sets shift time of all the transmissions to 0 anyway because I don't give a single dime about being competitive. I just wanna be able to drive the cars.

I found my problem, my computer seems to go through thremal throttling which causes a lag spike for about 30 seconds, during that lag spike if I slow down time to 100 times slow motion while going over 150MPH the field of view freaks out, meaning I should probably get a new CPU cooler soon, my computer was damaged in shipping and I guess I found another damaged part because I have had this computer since November and it's been doing this since I got it
