Hi, I'm doing this so I can see what needs doing in the way of tools and tutorials on the forum and hopefully help by making what i can to aid you Definition of a mod for this poll: A fully customised model and J-Beam working and fully functional in-game Thanks, Robbie
ATM the mesh/3d model/.dae/whatever is making it hard to see where my nodes and beams are and changing the transparency and color in blender didn't do anything in game for some reason. just kind of gave up for the moment i'm a lazy person too so there's that mixture of can't model and no motivation. I feel like the code thing isn't all that hard in the actual placing the nodes and beams. havent gone farther than that yet
Naming and keeping track of nodes and beams, texturing and lack of keeping concentration due to constantly switching between notepad and Drive.
i can code and model, but not very well (look at my sig for some of my work) im not good at texturing though that is what stops me
I've done a little modeling in school last year, but not a car. And I've tried to make a terrain before but I could never get it to work and didn't wan't to try to get it working. (Both for RoR and Drive)
First of, Thanks for all the replies. I might make a texturing tutorial, and perhaps even a basic modelling guide if i have time. Also to anyone who is struggling with terrains, can i suggest my terrain making tutorial, it looks pretty daunting but is actually a very simple processes. when you get used to it you can produce a rough terrain in under an hour and i'm more than happy to help people with unique problems through PM
I can do JBeam stuff but can't do any modelling. But I do have quite a lot of private projects. - - - Updated - - - Penta monitor master race! Muahahaha, Bahahaha
No motivation, and I can't model any further than simple sketchup things like a half pipe....and I couldn't even get that in game with collisions, the car went through...
For me it's lack of motivation and I'm not that great at modelling, and if I do something I don't show it anyone/don't release it
Imho, the best legit answers for this question would be: A: Tried it for ages but have no feel for it and really do not understand jbeam and modeling/no patience/no motivation. B: Not interested in making anything... C: Wating for slidenodes so I can make cool trains/tracked vehicles/cranes/etc I honestly think that anyone who can model can learn "how to jbeam", and vice versa. You can see beams as edges and nodes as vertex, or the other way around. Usually it's a lack of patience or interest that stops people from learning the spring/damping aspect of making an n/b skeleton for anything, when they already know how to model. That, and perhaps the triangulation factor in making things rigid are probably the biggest hurdles for people. The actual making of nodes and beams is so similar to making a mesh that I really don't think that's where the biggest problems lay(although they both have a different method to achieve almost the same thing) . You're so lazy you even missed the ctrl+k/l function ingame, which makes the mesh transparant or hides it completely Ohh the frustration of finding out about that now... How do you know? Don't think Nadeox has ever scratch-made a jbeam file? FYI: His BMW was adapted from the Marshal, Dkutch did suspension, the Crown Vic was also based on the Marshal... As far as I know, but correct me if I'm wrong, he's never done any cars from scratch?
I end up feeling very ill when trying to model for some reason, so haven't really been able to try modelling for too long. But I do agree as there seem to be a lot of similarities. P.s. Congratulations on your 666th post...
The Generator thing I made for the D15 Time ago. It was made from scratch, but it's damn horrible. Feels like you have a sliding block behind the car.. http://www.beamng.com/threads/1575-...tributing-post-)?p=52166&viewfull=1#post52166
Off topic Congrats Mythbuster you Devil Worshipper lol!! ON TOPIC What stops me is just that I cant understand the basics of how to mod I can do some basic coding and stuff but nothing really based on BeamNG to be honest....I can read the code fine but when I come to do things with it thats when my mind goes blank and I cannot understand what to do...I need to be shown how to do things...I am a person who learns by someone else helping me do it with me and thats the way I learn...so I just avoid modding the game as best I can but when I do, I try and adjust the code to see how adjusting the numbers effects the game...I see life as a calculation and I do see it much more when I am out driving around...its strange that I see it that way... I hope that was all good enough so that you all can understand what I mean by that
