This may already be a known issue - it might not even be a bug at all, but rather a hardware issue on my end. It's been occurring since before the recent update, and seems to persist afterwards. I was kind of hoping the update would fix it, so I haven't mentioned anything :D

I don't know what I should check or do to resolve it. So, Bug report?

Basically as the title says, it does this to me, every map, all the time.
It happens when editing terrain height, holding click and moving mouse.

I have the same issue, this happened when I was editing Utah. So its probably not on your end.

Thanks that actually helps me a lot, so I don't have to go wasting money on a new mouse trying to see if it helps :D

Hmm. I am still getting the same effect even editing overhead. I've tried a bunch of different things.

It's ok.. I have some fun ideas to work around it. :D

Sorry for starting this post also. I had searched. DX

Hmm, you're quite right. I'll have to apologize to the people in the other thread(s)... I didn't actually fire up the editor before giving advice. It had some similar problems in the past, but it's definitely broken now. :-(

Sure you can. This only affects 0,0. Just ignore it and let 0,0 get destroyed for now. The damaged area will be no larger than 40 units, you can easily fix that in about 5 minutes right before publishing the map. (Even better, don't put anything important on 0,0 and you can do a sloppy fix it in 30s or less.. just use the set height tool and then smooth.)

    Still not fixed!
    Same problem consist.
(I think it is for sure a bug and should not be justified with a specific camera angle or something like that ;))

At the devs (if they would read this...):
Please care about this editor bug.
It doesn't behave in a normal way.
I can tell that because I never faced this problem using editors from other games.
    Thanks.

Uhm yeah, notice the report was from the 15th April, and the latest game update was on the 20th.
It should have been fixed for the next update.

Not to be uselessly posting, but yes, it does this whenever the editor lags for a moment, the cursor disappears from view wherever you are at (because when the editor is busy in process, re-drawing the terrain or grass on it etc), and if you hold the mouse button down while the cursor disappears, it does whatever you are doing (leveling land, raising, lowering, ETC) to 0,0 coordinates (this is where the cursor defaults to).
Always check 0,0,0 before sending your level out :) Especially if that's your starting point!

Agreed, I have this issue every now and again. It gets quite annoying, very quickly.

Although maddening It can be humorous at times, like wondering what happened to six AI vehicles on random, and finding them all in
smoking ruins at the bottom of a mystery hole.

Yep, and then theres also the wondering where they went because they got engulfed by a raging mountain that appeared out of nowhere. Or the time when you extreme smooth a piece of land and then your mountain magically turns into a pile of sand. Simply amazing.

Bwahahahahaha, normally I don't like to clutter threads, but seriously, I am giggling like a madman here, at how many times that's happened.

    .

I made this video today, August 1st, 2017, and it is Unlisted. Forgot to turn the music off in the background. Sorry! (Edit: I just now noticed the video at the top of the thread. I'm an idiot for not seeing that. Oh well)

What I do is I select everything (terrain and props, roads etc.) and I move everything somewhere else and it fixes

DON'T do that if you have a rather-large-mostly-complete map with a few thousand objects. It will lock the editor up for up to an HOUR. Just FYI.
Also, not good to do to the forest brush, it may not 'move' with the rest of the stuff. When I last tried, it didn't move anything but the label for it, though this could be different in 0.9.
Does not work with super-large Roane-County maps as they need to be centered, to lessen the 'car quake' that happens when you're miles from the center. Maps less than a few miles across do not have to worry about the car quake issue with physics far from 0,0.

I just do the center last, very last. My Roane County has a 30 foot wide pit in the middle of it, but it's in the middle of a corn field, so no worries. I would imagine you could make a hole in the terrain with the CLEAR terrain tool on the largest cursor, and then put it back using the restore terrain tool. This is usually used to make tunnel openings, but you could remove the terrain so the cursor can't land on anything - which might - or might not - work, with that tool. I don't have something to test worth messing up right now.

In other words, if you haven't done the forest yet, and haven't got a large map, moving it was the trick that we used in previous versions and is generally recommended to avoid most of it.

Oh, and my so-cal has what looks like a small Caldera in the middle of it on one of the shores by an unfinished bridge's nearby cloverleaf.. I left it :)
