ok ill look. i know there are others, i just wanted to try and make my own. Hey, thanks. now it fly's over the large rocks in the test would. im about to try it out on the map to crawl over.
I tried making a new engine by copying and pasting to the bottom and editing it, but it just made the covet glitch out. Should I have pasted the n/b thing as well as the engine stuff?
Thanks. It works pretty well. im still doing some fine tuning, also, how do i change the color of the vehicle?
Color changing can be easy, or difficult, depending on the mood of the world editor and if it saves correctly. Open the world editor and select 'material editor'. Drag a box around the vehicle so that it becomes selected. From the list of things on the right, select the 'body', the find layer 2. It should be red as default, for the truck. Change it to whatever you want and hit save. It should now spawn like that, maybe. If that fails, you can always open the materials file and edit it manually by finding the right lines to edit. I actually prefer this method since it's fool proof and works every time.
Ok il try it. One, more thing, hopefully... what values do i need to change to raise up the front of the truck? i tried the first precomp i found, didn't do much, what else would i have to do?
The front is tricky, it doesn't really want to be too much higher. Set the precomp to a slightly higher value, then set the spring force to a slightly higher value, that should give it a couple more inches.
Appologies, it's near the top of that list and called something like 'pickup_body', or just 'pickup'.
ok, so then the preview bow is a lay out of the truck, then i change the box that is currently red, then save it, and it sould, work. - - - Updated - - - UP! Found it! dident chose the layer. sorry
so um my car goes 70 instantly backwards but the gears going forward go from 0-5 in a split second any help?
If you're modifying the Ibishu Covet the you want to modify "hatch_transmission_M" not "hatch_transmission_A". This is the transmission used for all of the Covet regardless of version (and don't worry it's still automatic, manual has yet to be coded). To stop the transmission from jumping all the way to the final gear change the "clutchTorque" to a value slightly higher than your maximum torque and "lockingTorqueLimit" to the same value as your maximum torque. The shift-up and shift-down RPMs will have to be adjusted in the engine section.
So take the Covet MRi for example. I'm planning on attempting to recreate one of Ken Block's gymkhana videos in BeamNG. However I need a car that both looks similar and drives well enough to make it look good. I have the first part under control, however I simply cannot drift in anything that isn't AWD. I tried a combination of your Grand Marshal video tutorial and what you said in the 'differential' section of the OP. All I ended up doing was adding the name of the new Front Differential to the slot area, (which doesn't effect anything performance-wise) and adding this code to the very bottom of the engine jbeam: After doing this, I think I might have succeeded. Or at least did something. The new parts do show up in the Part's Config Menu, however when I have them selected along with the old Rear difs, the car barely moves but an estimated 5mph. It's pathetic. I can't even tell whether or not it's AWD because it's so slow. I have no idea what else to do at this point. If you could take a look at the MRi's engine jbeam and try to help me out, that would be a huge help. All I'm trying to do is get it to work in AWD. My dream of making the perfect Gymkhana machine is hitting so many roadblocks it's ridiculous. So like I said, if you don't already have dkutch's Ibishu Covet MRi, then please download it and look at the engine jbeam. I could really use some help <3
I actually completely stopped playing the game and checking the forum. I think I understand your problem. His Covet is RWD and you need it AWD? I'll work on it tonight, should take 5 minutes probably. I could tune it for you and everything, but I have a feeling you would rather do it yourself, so I'll just do the drivetrain.
What do you mean by that? You'll make it AWD but I'll do the fine tuning as far as performance goes? I'm honestly not very good at any of this.. I just recently got into the technical side of the game. So if you don't mind, you can just finish it all up and get the car to fully drive nicely in AWD if that's not too much to ask. I really appreciate the help though. And sorry to hear that you don't play much anymore. I might not have been here very long but you've been very helpful and a good addition to the community while you've been here. And this tutorial really did help. I'm gonna be screwing with suspension and making my cars unrealistically fast now that I know how :3 Also... 100th post :O
Thats an awesome tutorial, thank you good sir ! But I have a problem, I changed some gears and now I can't reverse... How do I fix this problem?
Sorry for the noobie question. I bought the game on Steam and I can not seem to find the vehicle file where you can make changes. Help please?
