I've been testing the game which so far seems to offer moderate driving compared to other realistic simulators like ProjectCars or GranTurismo, the understeer is too much so I looked up what I could find online and I've found incredibly arrogant posts from this community. I don't wanna be posting in old threads so I'm gonna adress said arrogance in this thread. It's only a video game, and there's been better ones at it, some people have been working on making driving simulators since the 90's and they haven't made it happen to perfection yet, it's not a smaller, recent project that's gonna beat them to it. Wow, "purported" huh. You haven't tried hard enough on other games. Hardly, when a car can oversteer at as low as 30km/h This is easily the most arrogant post I've seen. "Other fake games"? Alright, so let's get this straight, games like Need for Speed are not trying to be realistic, but rather fun to play, so they're not exactly fake since they're not trying to imitate real life in the first place. Secondly, other simulation games are not fake at all either, since a good bunch of them do it better. BeamNG is good for testing destruction but you need to stop believing that it's the final word in car simulators. What say you in your defence?
I think your points are valid and on the point, but please, it's still on development. Hence it's a "Steam Early Access" game for a reason. The devs is working hard to develop this game. If you think that this game sucks, you shouldn't get this game. Fullstop. --- Post updated --- BTW, actually, this game has it's flaws and I don't admit it's the most realistic game ever.
Virtually any street car will lose traction at 30km/h, at full steering lock, even on a good dry road. Oversteer can happen at any speed, provided you have a powerful enough car. You're actually more likely to encounter it at lower speeds when you're flooring it. A donut is just a very low-speed oversteer event, for example.
If you played enough of NFS 2015 you sould appreciate the handling rather than mocking it. With a steering wheel the game handles very good and I cant see a point to hate it. Sure it´s sometimes frustrating that you understeer into a tree at 50 km/h .. But thats your own fault. Also ... Drive a car with normal road tyres on a asphalt surface, and turn in circles at 30-40 km/h .. Repeat the same in BeamNG .. I bet with you that the outcome is the same. if you say that the cars handling is unrealistic, You never drove a car IRL
All valid points but... BeamNG is a "dynamic soft-body physics vehicle simulator". It just happens to be fairly realistic as a driving simulator because most of the simulated aspects are designed in conjunction with a very good physics engine. Producing the ultimate driving simulator never was the main objective of the dev team. And yes. Oversteer might be too much - I don't agree, and I have a fairly extensive experience with real life vehicles, not just "games" - . Though, you get hints and tips during loading screens, useful suggestions to counterplay this and many other unwanted vehicle behaviours. Ever tried to do as suggested? The game offers plenty of customization options for all the vehicles included, you can't really judge the depth of simulation without exploring more possibilities.
You created this thread to be a troll. There's literally no reason for this. Get off your high horse, and if you don't like the game, then don't play it.
In your defense, the community sorta acts arrogant over things but the vehicle handling is definitely on par with triple A titles. Oversteer at 30 kmh is what I don't understand. It's usually the lift off oversteer that catches you. If you want the most realistic experience, try using a wheel. Now exactly what other games do you play besides this one?
beamng does not need people just joining to rant. I know you just joined to rant because as of 7-21-2017, the day the thread was created, it says JOINED TODAY on your profile.
"arrogant" buddy, you havent seen a thing from this community yet. tripple A games are making their "simulation" more fun then simulation ish. i have a suggestion for you tho, once you are old enough, get yourself a car and try going around corners at 100+km/h see if that works out for you.
hahaha, whaaaaat. What is the problem? The physic of this game is very good. In some cases much better then Simulaters like "project Cars". And there is a simple reason: The cars in BeamNG are build of PARTS. The cars in Project Cars (for example) are only one hole object. So that makes the Object "Vehicle" more realistic compared to Simulators like "Project Cars". Because Simulator like that uses only G-forces for the hole object at once. BeamNG uses G-forces on each part. That lets the behaviour be more realistic And you can feel it. Test it for example with less pressure on tires (best way to test and feel it are off road vehicle) The "understeer-problem" is simple: You have to config your controlling seperatly right. BeamNG is early acces and need to get better to config automaticly the connected controller. But that is the only problem. I needed much time to get my controlling usable. But that is not a physic-problem. About the ARROGANCE: Are you seriuos? That is not a BeamNG-Com-Problem. It is an F*** World problem. Most communityplattform in the hole internet are arogance. hahaha. I know what you mean bout ARROGANCE. But I think you need to know more bout this community. What you descripe is my general problem, why i dont use so much forums at the moment. But the BeamNG-Com is full of people having fund and being creative. Cheers.
Well I'll be directly honest with I like potatoes, so that could be the issues. * hum * Beamng maybe isn't the most realistic driving simulation in the world, but it's probably one of the best, at least the only with Soft body physic, which mean than when you'll take a corner, it's not just a pre-coded suspensions that will react, but the all frame, suspension and every little parts will react independently like it (Almost) would on a real car, but much more simplified because of how todays computers are still really limited.
Other games limit your steering input to a reasonable ammount based on speed. BeamNG does now. Try driving in first person view and see what your steering wheel is doing; if you drive in third person (looking at the car from behind) you have no idea what your front wheels are doing. Remember, any car can and will understeer at 30km/h if you're giving it full steering lock.
