Update Speculation thread

Pretty much all of them are shared to some degree, the naming for the nodes on the body and the layout of the jbeam files are the same for most of the cars at least recently so would be a safe bet they are all started from from the closest match as base, so 2 door and 4 door for example and then added to depending on whats needed

 

But then I would imagine there are a few cases where they (vehicle development team) needed to start from scratch.

 

Yeah stuff like the T-series and Pigeon or any other more weird vehicles are pretty much from scratch with so much editing, even if you copy some jbeam stuff to start.

 

all that being said, shouldn't we get more vehicles at a faster pace?
or then the 3d modelling becomes the bottleneck?

 

Yes, that and obviously research. would be interesting to see a video by BeamNG on the development of an official vehicle from concept to public release.

Yeah, they could do something like Overwatch does when they release a new hero, take a highlights reel of all the work they've done on to it and overlay it with information. That would be good for modders and normal people to know how hard it is to actually make a vehicle, as well as show some behind-the-scenes work.

Update news!

The update is "soon"! Not much, but whatever.

Oh my, have we really reached (soon) already?

And here I was, naively thinking it would take 2 more months at minimum before we got to (soon). Excited for the update, I'm really looking forward to Italy or WCA, whichever comes out first. I need a new map to play around in, JRI has gotten boring, and to be frank I'm sick of the whole lush green vegetation, I want something more dry.

If we get the Bluebuck in, which I doubt, this update is going to be amazing. If we don't get it, and just get a map, it'll still be amazing.

 

I just realized that I will be out of town for every major update! When 0.8 came out, I was at my grandparents. When 0.9 came out, I was at my grandparents again. And it looks like 0.10 will come when I'm out of town again...

Well, I guess that the most effective way to predict updates is to figure out when I can't get to my computer.

 

Sound design isn't as easy as it might seem - no mod up to this point has come anywhere close to the quality expected in AAA games (and even most indie games).
That said, I think that it is highly likely that sound will make its appearance this update. I have absolutely no proof of this...just a hunch based on my faulty reasoning.

 

Beamng giving rockstar games a run for their money with their "soons".

 

The sound guys working hard, but It'd be nice to get an update on that.

However BeamNG can fufil it's promises on time...

 

I wonder if the Tow Truck will come with the update?

(this is in the game files and sits on the ext. frame with single cab)

There are the summer holidays in germany but they are not the same everywhere but maybe theyll release it then

Also, I think the tow truck is in the same boat as the Dyno. Some odd issue they still haven't fixed...

 

The holidays in bavaria for example the summer holidays are in august and the beginning of September and in hamburg for example the holidays are from july to august
