well i never, putting Lineage OS onto my phone (SD625) has made it so much faster, it feels like iPhone performance
Surface Pro 4 freezes often, but I can't figure out why. No viruses, 100/120GB free, i5-6300 (isn't it i3-6300?), 4gb ram, only a few programs installed. I think it's the lack of ram, chrome eats it so it's always above 75% usage. Any suggestions?
Lack of RAM isn't going to cause crashes/freezes unless you have deleted your page file. You may get disk thrashing (do they still call it that on an SSD?) which will cause the system to slow down, but outside of that you shouldn't run into any issues. Try making sure your drivers are up to date (Win10 may have taken the liberty for you), check to see if there are any firmware updates available on the MS website. You may want to check out event viewer to see if it has any useful info (probably doesn't but good to know if it does, and easy to look). You may want to try a windows refresh, see if that helps, maybe even a format and reinstall if it doesn't. If you still have issues after that you may have a hardware problem.
I've been pleasantly surprised by the performance of BeamNG on my laptop. Dell XPS 13, Intel Core i5 6200u and integrated GPU spits out various warnings from BeamNG, but it can still run it at 1366 by 768 with more than playable (>45FPS) framerates, at low settings. The biggest issue is with more than 1 car, while it can still run the game and process the two cars with collisions (albeit with decreasing FPS), the menus, car setup all become locked up- not sure why. Apart from that, it is still perfectly playable. Optimization looks pretty good.
I should probably put BeamNG on my laptop and see how it runs, could make for a nice break from outside to do some modding stuff while on holiday in a couple weeks
Yeah I'm going to try it on my Compaq Presario C700 tonight, because boredom. --- Post updated --- Every 3 months, I take a compressed air can and blow everything I see in my computer, but it just moves all the dust. Should I take a wipe or something to soak up the dust? I like to keep my stuff in ship-shape.
You can buy ESD safe brushes to brush dust off components. So usually I use some of them to remove dust and then keep a vacuum cleaner a couple cm away to remove the dust that is brushed off.
Pshhhh 3 months I try and do it every month, mainly because its been 3 months and I can see the dust and the temp differences (usually sitting around 55C for cpu and it has peaked at 60C already)
Yeah I hit about 60C when playing some games after 3 months, but as soon as I clean it it drops to 58ish.
Every three months? I usually clean my machines out every year or so. Quick blast from my air compressor and a paint brush for stubborn dust.
Hi guys, I was thinking about getting a new PC, my current one is ageing and it's a turd Only condition is it's gotta be a laptop (yes, I know desktop master race, but I need a computer that is portable). Question is, are there any laptops available which will run BeamNG well? My knowledge of PCs is not that great, so I don't want to buy another turd by mistake >.< Also, would I be better off getting something new from a computer store, or consider something used online? Also, if there are any laptops in which upgrading the hardware is a possibility, that would be good to know
I'd be willing to pay a bit over a grand for something that does the job, but of course the cheaper the better
Australia Though I am in Japan sometimes, so if they have better laptop options I'd consider buying one there^^
Do you have an E-Shop there? The company that i use doesn´t ship to australia, but you can look there. https://www.alza.co.uk
