So I haven't seen a thread pertaining to diesel performance and or diesels in general and seeing the "coal rollers" thread we have a few diesel owners on this forum, it sparked the idea to create this thread. (I know we have a general car discussion and this is for anything to do with "general" car/truck discussion.) Anything pertaining to diesels can be talked about in here, diesel cars to diesel trucks (performance) or anything else diesel. have a question about or need help with your TDI or diesel truck? post it in here.
Never had a 6.9, but I had a factory turbo-ed 7.3 IDI in a 94 F-250 that wouldn't die, I think it only had maybe 2 working glow plugs, and it sometimes took it's sweet time getting started, but it'd always start. I nearly bought a 96 7.3 Powerstroke F-350 in high school, I wanted the truck, but it had more electrical issues than I'd like to deal with. I drove 6.0 and 6.4's, and both seemed pretty underwhelming, even in comparison to the IDI, but the 6.7 really got my attention. Me and a friend went up to Chicago to pick up a transmission, we took one of his work trucks for the trip, a 2013 2wd F-250 with a 6.7 Powerstroke, and we made what should be a 5 hour trip each way in less than 3. Right now the only diesel truck I've got is the red 94 12 valve Dodge, and I'd love to get it back on the road, but it's still got some electrical issues I need to take care of.
