We haven't heard anything about this map since January. I'm really interested in it. Anyone else with me?

I think the majority of people want to see WCA more than Italy. and Italy is getting much more attention, but the devs could have a good reason for doing that. But I too want the drag strip and the city more than farm lands and ruins

I'm a bit more interested in WCA than italy. THe WCA layout looks very interesting, and I've always wanted an proper official dragstrip in beamng, but the italy map looks really beautiful and interesting and could turn out to be loads of fun. I really like very open maps like utah so italy may be one of my favorite maps when it comes out. I'm almost equally interested in italy as i am in WCA.

By looks alone Italy will be a drivers map and WCUSA will be a racers map. We will have our cake and eat it too:D.

I know I'm gonna get some hate for this, but I'm more hyped for italy. It could just be due to the european atmosphere, but it seems really relaxed, not the chaos and hustle and bustle of WCUSA. I still can't wait for west coast, but Italy's more my cup of tea.

It's just that this is a WCUSA hype thread, and I have a very different opinion.

Italy is like Small Island; very scenic, but not much in terms of use.
WCUSA is like Hirochi Raceway; Not as much to look at, but plenty to do.
Now if we could have a West Coast Italy...

Maybe you forget something : WCUSA is probably a lot harder to develop than Italy. Don't get me wrong, Italy is a beautiful map, far ahead of the actual maps. But since WCUSA is mostly an urban map, cities need a lot more work, details and optimization than a "Natural" oriented map.
I think optimization is a really big problem here, matching the minimal requirements is probably not easy.
We can clearly see the changes with time of maps in Beamng has the game get more optimized. ECU isn't really pretty compared to Utah. It won't surprise me if in sometimes ECU get a big update, or just get removed of the game.

On a whim, I'd say we're seeing more of Italy than WCU because the latter is closer to being completed. Not close per se, but closer. The devs don't want to spoil the levels for us, and while behind-the-scenes development of either level can be seen as a spoiler, showing nearly complete levels early does kinda ruin the magic more than largely conceptual ones. Like how films often have behind-the-scenes trailers that favor early concept art over finished footage.

As for Italy vs WCU, I'll say this much: I'm looking forward to having an official urban map, but Italy looks like it will dwarf WCU in more than land area alone. Not only is it the first official European map that has an open structure, but it fixes perhaps one of the few shortcomings of BeamNG; it's great to drive in, but none of the maps are big or varied enough to have a sense of actually travelling. With a city and multiple distinct [and hopefully unique] towns, Italy might just answer that concern.

I have a feeling WCUSA is a B25Mitch exclusive map. Every screen I've seen has 100% his trademark look about it.

I disagree on the italy part. I would put it more like utah. It has alot of dirt roads for rally, but it also has an long and fast highway going round the map.
This is the latest layout we've got(an month old):

I really can see some good dirt and asphalt rally being done on this map and i can also see myself driving an lap around the outer highway in an civetta bolide. However all we can see here is the road layout. We already know that it's gonna include some residential areas and possibly an small town aswell.
Now for the main thing this thread is actually about: West coast USA.
It would be neat if we could get an update on the layout of WCA. The only one we have now is almost an year old and has probably changed a little bit atleast. 2 things i haven't seen brought up about WCA yet is that the map will feature(i doubt that this has changed too much) an 2.5km (1.5mile) long highway straight perfect for maxing or getting close to maxing out your cars, and the fact that the current layout has 15 roads that continue over the edge of the map. Will those roads simply be blocked by just an couple of roadblocks?
(Put spoilers in to organize it a bit more)

I think hutch is making italy, and mitch is making WCUSA, that would make sense cnsidering they live (and i presume work) on opposite sides of the globe.
