Hello to all, I have been playing around with Beamng Drive mods for a little while now, and have noticed that there is a lack of off road vehicles, and by that I mean extreme performance off-road vehicles, such as trophy trucks and baja buggies, such as the ones raced in the Baja 1000, S.C.O.R.E. off-road races, and other off-road events. So I decided that I would model a trophy truck after the Kinetik 6100, an extreme off-road racer by Camburg Engineering. I have only just begun, so I do not have a lot accomplished. I am working on the roll cage, then will go to work on the frame shortly thereafter. I do not have a lot of experience with content creation, as I stated above, so I will be bouncing back and forth from the forums to my workspace. If anyone has any tips or pointers for me, that would be fantastic. I want this to be as realistic as possible, so I will be working hard on the fine details. This will take me a long time, but I will not give up.
Im gonna be honest here, theres a ton of threads out there exactly like this one. And so many of them have nothing to show for years later. Not even a singular update. Also, the rules for the forum are essentially "dont start a thread until theres real progress to be shown". Theres a fairly steep learning curve for making relatively simple vehicles, let alone a full on trophy truck. That being said, dont give up. Its been done before and its been bloody wonderful. Hell, people have gotten jobs from it. Learn Become a maker ??? Profit! Do it dude. Do it. Dont let this become another "WIP"
Thanks for the reply! I have also seen a lot of WIPs that have been abandoned, for this sort of vehicle in particular. I understand that creating a vehicle is a daunting task, but I promised myself that I won't give up, no matter what. Progress will be slow, but there WILL BE constant progress. I don't want this to be another forgotten WIP.
got any model progress pics? cant start a thread if you have just one simple thing and it would preferably be in game if you do start the thread according to rules
Nothing in-game just yet. I will put what I have into the game at the end of the week, that is, if my post stays up until then. Sorry about the violation.
I know it is crude, but i am just about finished with the cage. I just have to add suspension mounts, a-arms, and connect the front of the cage to the front bulkhead. Tomorrow I will work on the rest of the suspension and suspension components, such as a-arms, trailing arms for the 4-link, and axles. My goal is to have something to put into the game by the end of the week. It probably won't move, but if it loads into the game, it's a step in the right direction. .
its pretty ironic actually. yesterday i was looking up trophy trucks for beam ng and couldnt find any. its good to see someone is making one. good luck mate.
This is such a nice trophy truck. I cant wait until this is finished. Most of the best looking mods get abandoned and i dont want this to have the same thing happen to it so keep up the good work
I truly hope this gets finished, Beamng SERIOUSLY needs one of these, all the others are either outdated or just not super high quality (excluding RG's trophy truck, it works quite well, but damage isn't super realistic.) Don't give up on it!
yeah i was making one but ran into an issue with needing help, no one offered to help me so it got lost in the threads. here it is here. if you know how to lower the poly count and bake it you can use it
sorry i edited not knowing you just replied, lol. the issue is in the message above, if you can help me i will get this back on track for the first time in like 2 years
Ah lol. No problem. Im cant really make textures but i could uv it. I though all that was already done tho lol. Jbeam part is what im better at. Lowering poly count without making the model look weird would take more time, but if you use the tool in blender which lowers its count it does it faster, but its not always the best. And sorry for calling it "the tool in blender which lowers its count" i have a blank in my memory and i just cannot remember the name of that thing.
