Soooo true. I wrote about it here: https://badpopularcars.blogspot.com/2016/10/honda-ridgeline.html#comment-form
Some business suits and mullets got too close and created a reaction that wiped that whole point in history out of existence.
Introducing our latest and greatest Ute... aka, the most useless Ute the world has ever seen xD Honestly though I would like to see them turn one of their AMG estates into a ute and sell it in the UK. Would be a really nice treat to see a few of them every so often.
I know the feeling, except it was my clutch that went. No one stopped to help either, so all 120lbs of me had to push it out of the way by myself. Luckily old VW's don't weigh very much. Do you know yet if you messed up the fuel pump or anything?
I was able to putter clear of the intersection, at about 1mph. It died for good when I was about 10 feet past the line. My light turned red when I was 1/3 of the way through the intersection, and the left turners on the road perpendicular to me got green arrows. Someone at the front of the line to the left of me tried to cut in front of me and then honked at me when I got in their way. Woulda been their fault if we hit, I entered the intersection legally. Most people seemed to be pretty understanding though. A couple of guys pulled over and helped me push it into the parking lot of a closed gas station. The fuel pump seems to be fine.
Finally got the 88 turbo back together. That rear main seal was a pain in the ass. Also fixed the 86's AC. A couple days ago I was using the AC for the first time this year and it just stopped working. Turns out that somehow the power wire to the compressor got severed. No idea how.
This is the video of the event. The audio is muted because it's retarded. The driver of that red 4runner that cut in front of me is a dick. I didn't really notice or care at the time cause I was focused on trying to get out of the box, but now that I watch it back it makes me kinda mad.
The Morgan looked like it held up pretty well, interesting to see how the wooden construction handles impacts.
Putting this on my Christmas list. 250 HP and 500 FT/lbs might not seem like much from a 540 C.I big block, but this is just a cam and some valve springs away from lots, and lots of broken driveline pieces. Consider this, a fair HP number on a 540 inch big block is around 650-700, base one on an indestructible 8.1, and then give it a turbo? Then you've really got something.
RAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGHLSKAHGAKL;HR;ADSJFH;ASLJHGFLA;KSDHJFADHSH I took a run up to one of the world's better driving roads a week or two ago. Immediately after, my transmission became much harder to deal with, especially cold. Friday I came home by another good backroad, and didn't leave the hosue after that until today. Well, today I wanted to go for another rip on the same road and then make a couple of stops at stores, but when I went to go do that, I practically needed a sledgehammer to shove it into gear. Okay, this is a problem, and I forgot something I wanted to return anyway, so while I'm home, I'll check my transmission fluid too. Owner's guide says the dipstick is located on the driver's side, on the rear of the transaxle case (manual with a dipstick, yay!). Go out, look for dipstick, can't find it because of cramped, shadowy engine bay. Go back inside, acquire flashlight, still can't find dipstick because near-dead batteries. Go back inside, install new batteries, find dipstick. Transaxle case looks heavily soiled, as if fluid has been leaking from the dipstick/fill hole. U w0t m8 moment #1. Go to pull dipstick and... it isn't all the way in. U w0t m8 moment #2. It also slides the rest of the way out without needing to unlock. Clean it off, put it back in, won't seal, doesn't need to be unlocked to pull it back out. U w0t m8 moment #3. Go into town (driving much less exuberantly than usual) looking for a replacement dipstick, hoping it's actually the problem. Run all over town, visiting the dealer and four parts stores. Dealer says it's about to be discontinued and will also need to be shipped in special, taking about a week. None of the parts stores have it, or a generic. Junkyard says they close at 6PM but actually closes at 5PM, and they don't have a database of the cars currently available to be picked over. Other junkyard is also closed by the time I get there. Admit defeat and return to the dealer. Get the parts-counter guy to check one more time to make sure I get the right part, since this dealership has tried to feed this car ATF before, with annoying results. Parts-counter guy realizes that this car could have had two different 5MTs in it, one Isuzu (dipstick still in production) and one Getrag-Muncie (dipstick out of production period, no last chances here). Go out to get my VIN so he can check and... guess which one my car has. Excuse me while I bash my head vigorously against a hard object.
How does your clutch pedal feel? Mine leaked a bit and wouldn't disengage all the way. First was not easy to get into. Worst case can you find a new trans and swap it in with some friends?
Yeah, that's the problem. I looked when I got home, and all I found were GM parts wholesalers pointing out that it was discontinued without telling me where I could find an equivalent. Apparently, there's one dealership left in the country that has one, and it's in Nebraska. Apparently, I'm not the only person who's had this problem; someone else made a thread about it on v6z24.com and was pointed toward a dipstick shim that someone had made that's supposed to make it fit tighter than new. I might end up using that, but I still made my own thread there to find out if anyone actually makes replacement dipsticks, because that still feels like the less janky option even if the shim is actually better.
