Really? Again with the Bible basher thing? What is it with people who have to scream "BIBLE BASHER" any time someone suggests that something might be wrong? It's like, for some people, it's not enough to get away with raunch or swearing, they have to shut down anyone who has a problem with it.

Honestly, I really don't understand anyone can say Christians should keep their religion out of view, then turn around and say it's out of line for them to expect the same courtesy with suggestive content or constant swearing.

I totally agree with you, except for the fact you called Christianity a religion, but that's a topic for another day on a different forum or via PM.

Why did this have to be an argument about religion now? Honestly I don't care what your religion is as long as it doesn't hurt others who don't want to be involved and if you leave me out of it. End of story, talk about cars or crashing or something now please.

What are you guys even discussing? :(
    • Swearing is against the rules, so discussing it is a non-starter. It doesn't matter if you like swearing or not.
    • Everyone accepts that Christianity is a religion, so that's also not worthy of a mention. Of course if there was a discussion to be made, it wouldn't have a place here on the BeamNG forum.
    • Please report inappropriate content, no need to discuss it. eg "raunch" etc...
@Hati - I missed this supposed "golden period" you seem to yearn for... and I have a lot of trouble believing that it really existed. I've seen various folks claiming that new cars previously rained from the sky every week... but I just can't find the evidence. And don't forget that as the volume of official content grows the less space there is for truly unique new mods. I do think that that focusing on modding and appreciating mods is healthy for the community (rather than begging or whining about mods). If you're expecting new earth-shattering community mods though I'm afraid that you'll be mostly disappointed. I'm afraid that you'll have to settle for things which you may view as aesthetic, evolutionary, or incremental. As usual with these situations I invite you to review my last summary of all the good stuff which has happened recently (as of Sept 2016).

The 'golden era' spoken of is just part of a bigger picture. Many golden 'eras' could be coaxed out of any timeline since 2013.
Would the pre-race update era in June of 2014 for instance not be considered a 'golden era'?

Golden era modders were special because they were the trailblazers of the early days of BeamNG but that doesn't mean successive
brilliant modders like AR162, Sergentfido,Dtroxx,Ninetynine,Djlopper and countless others don't have their 'golden era' badges soon to be
applied. BeamNG is changing constantly and brilliant modders take up the challenge every step of the way.

BeamNG is one big and constant 'golden era' every day in my book. While fondly remembering the pioneers of modding is perfectly acceptable
so should fondly remembering the pioneers of today and tomorrow.

Back when I joined in 2013 (this is a new account) it was better. YouTube is what has brought all the kids to this game. Putting the game on steam just made it worse. Now there is thread bumps from 2 year old mods and just annoying kids. Check my profile page and look at the discussion on my profile. There is a few pointless things from kids of just random text that mean nothing.

@Aboroath About what you wrote."BeamNG is one big and constant 'golden era' every day in my book. While fondly remembering the pioneers of modding is perfectly acceptable
so should fondly remembering the pioneers of today and tomorrow."
What I have done to remember the golden era was remake the hell jeep and the 1994 jeep grand Cherokee. I added all the new features of the current version to them. Back when the helljeep was made everyone supported it and not many people begged to get the mods released before they are done. I wish it could be like that again.

No, he was straight up quoting bible verses on discord, its pretty obvious hes strongly religious from that alone.. Nothing to do with his dislike of swearing or whatever else.

It has everything to do with my dislike of swearing. In fact here's a bible verse about that specifically:
    Colossians 3:8
But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.

Yes, but your dislike of swearing is nothing to do with me calling you a "bible baser" as Chuck suggested, thats all.

Well, I'm not one of the folks claiming new cars literally rained from the sky every week. But I do recall a fuckton more going on back then then there is now. The problem isn't about unique mods so much as it's about substantive mods. Burried beneath skins and configuration packs there don't appear to me many fully fledged cars coming about. I'm happy for the Satsuma, first properly finished car in a long time with really nice 3D modelling to boot. It's substantive and well finished.

There was one and we are no longer in it. I can assure you of that. I think the worst of my prognosis is that currently we're between two potential golden ages. There's a lot that I can see starting to gear up. Some people taking sustained interest is nice to see and maybe the right parts of the community will flourish again.

I'm not on that chat so I wouldn't have known. What I do know is that I have been called a "Bible basher" for the grave and unforgivable offense of... saying I didn't want to see suggestive content in BeamNG.Drive. In a thread created specifically to discuss things we didn't want to see in said game. Now granted, I had said some very overtly religious things before, and I have since. But even if one has some kind of a beef with that, a simple statement of preference seems like an odd time to go off and say my "Bible bashy posts" are "making [the poster in question] sick".

Same epithet has been applied for my attitude towards raunchy avvys in general.

Given that background, maybe you can see why I just sort of assumed gigwert was getting the same treatment.

    @Religion and profanity

The Bible provides a guideline for how Christians should act and treat others.

The New Testament is what you should quote as a Christian. The Torah is for reference and context. Unless you come from an extremely orthodox church, quoting the old testament and claiming to be a christian is king of ass backwards.

Christ died to release man from the sins of the Old Testament. If you truly belive the old testament stuff; then eating pork and laying with a man aren't far off from each other.

Truly, as a christian, you shouldnt be worried about the language others use. turn the other cheek and judge not.

A good Christian lives as Jesus would have.

Sure, it would be nice to have that era of early respect and excitement back but this is 2017. The devs are solely responsible for opening up this game and the forums to a wider audience. We can accept or deny that fact. I choose to accept it. This game is moving forward whether we like it or not and I choose to keep things in perspective.

In my defense I wasn't part of the very early crew who joined in 2012 or had affiliations with modders in the ROR days. I view those people with great respect for what must have been
really great times. I just want to see more of the 'old guard' being active and positive in 2017 and not complaining how everything has gone to shit or venturing out on pointless thread derailing
    personal vendettas....right?

That's one of the reason why i am not putting lot of effort on the mod, since it's basically on hold, using my time for a forum that , mostly, doesn't deserve all that effort. I'm sorry for the ones which behave in a good way on the forums

I do think that this forum is going downhill. But are you really going to let a gang of trolls and noobs set you off from a mod you've worked on for, well, over a year? There are more good-intentioned people on the forums than you'd think. I think we're concentrating too much on the bad-intentioned people and generalizing everything about the fourm

So, because certain dickbags are dickbags, your giving up?
    REALLY?!
I can name a full list of people that are dicks, but, jesus, don't let that shit bring you down.
And if you do, they will beat you to death with hate.
    Just my two cents.

Indeed. I can't tell you how many people have been rude to me and others in the comments of my few posts. This isn't what the forums are for, they are for helping each other, like a community.
