Seems like they changed the bottom mount to plastic in the 07' 2.5i models, WRX range models might still have metal. Yet again to the junkyards for parts I go, maybe I can find a metal bracket.

Block is the same certainly between an ej20-22-25. Pretty sure it is in 15, 16 and 18 too. Hasn't really changed over the years either. Full AC belt assembly from just about any Subaru you find *should* fit.

That's the nice thing about Subaru, most of the parts will fit well enough between models and years to be usable. The biggest issue in finding parts for them at pick n' pulls is actually finding a Subaru in the first place, and when one does come up for stripping, its picked clean of valuable parts faster than a small turkey for a big family dinner. However I have identified the part number of the broken plastic mount, should be only 7 dollars or so so I might just buy one from Subaru.

As for my Power steering air leak, its either the pump leaking air somehow or something under the car, as I have tightened every connection I can reach from the top of the engine, as well as fitted a new O ring for the intake hose from the reservoir to the pump, and a homemade gasket via gasket maker for the connection. Somehow air remains in the system, though If I run the car with the reservoir cap off, the system will eventually loose the air and remain without it for a short while of driving. My suspicion is that its not the pump but an air leak somewhere, most likely underneath the engine, or from the reservoir itself.

Decided to poke around a bit and figure out why it smells kinda musty in the back of the Yukon. Noticed that the carpet was damp at the base of one of the cargo tie downs, so I removed it as well as a few trim pieces and pulled the carpet back.
I discovered standing water on the sheet metal, and the insulation on the bottom of the carpet had soaked up a ridiculous amount of it as well.
As far as I can tell it came in through two open screw holes in the floor, where some equipment must have been mounted and removed quite a while ago. It seems like a hell of a lot of water to get in through two little holes, but it wouldn't be pooling exactly where it is if it were coming from a window or something. Dunno where else it'd be coming from.
Imma put some screws or something through the holes and leave the carpet folded over until everything is dry.

Sorry if you've shown some already, but have you got any pictures of said Yukon?

Fun fact, the Tahoe/Yukon is the only GMT400 platform truck I haven't owned.

Fun fact #2, here is a Yukon that belongs to a friend on another forum.

    The day he got it.

Only got around to taking a couple proper pictures of it yesterday, haven't shown them yet.

This angle makes the brush guard look wayyyy more bent than it does in person. It is bent in a little on the driver's side, the wrap around is about and inch closer to the fender than it is on the passenger's side, but it's hardly noticeable in person unless you're really looking at it.

The carpet is really nasty. I'm gonna steam clean it or something at some point.
According to the RPO codes on the glovebox sticker, it has a 3:42 rear end with the G80 locker. It also said it has keyless entry, but I don't know if I believe that. I don't have 100% faith in the list I was looking at. I'd like to try and get a build sheet. I've heard some dealers will get you one if you just ask.
And I dig your friend's truck.

Most all GM products have a build sheet stuck somewhere inconspicuous, but it isn't an exact science, sometimes they are under the fuse block, sometimes they are inside a seat, they could be anywhere, but most GM vehicles I've had, have had one.

It looks like it a Z56, do you know any of the history on it? I assume it was a former police truck.

That also means it did have a G80, but like every G80 ever put in anything, it probably broke the day it left the dealership.

It was a police truck, but it isn't a Z56. I ran a carfax and it started life as a lease in Michigan. Stayed up there for a year, then was sold at an auction in the southeast. It's been in Cleveland, TN since, but it gets pretty fuzzy from there. The second owner owned it for the next 5 years, then sold it to the third owner who owned it from '02ish until it was totalled in a left side impact in 2014. Fourth owner owned it for a month or two and it was issued a salvage title, then it was sold to the 5th owner and eventually issued a rebuilt title. I bought it from the 5th owner. I'm not sure how long it has been a government vehicle, but I'm pretty sure the county I bought it from was both the 3rd and 5th owner. 4th owner was probably an insurance company.
The RPO codes said it was fitted with Aluminum wheels and running boards from the factory. All the other police trucks owned by that county look pretty much the same way this one does, so I assume they're the ones that modified it.
It's also worth noting that they didn't disclose anywhere that it has a salvage title. I didn't know till I got to looking at the paperwork after I got home. I don't really care, but cmon now.

On the motorway where there are no traffic lights, at 110km/h, I got an easy 2-3 seconds of braking plus the token second to react. Impact was at about 50km/h into a car travelling 15km/h (take these numbers with a grain of salt), meaning I had at least 80m of space so you can all eat a dick.

Before you all go fact checking on MX5 96-0 times, don't forget I had a passenger, a near-full tank, 30 year old brakes, and was driving on a very less-than-ideal surface, so factor those into your equations.

    Assholes.

Anyway, in a nice twist of events, the car was stolen from where I had to leave it as it was undriveable

Sounds like you shoulda factored those into your following distance. Doesn't matter anyway, it was just a Miata.

I may have fixed my Subaru's power steering air leak... or fixed it long enough that it made it for a two minute drive around my block without making much more than an initial whimper. More than likely by morning the whine of defeat will be back, but tightening everything on top and underneath and bleeding the system of air has at least slowed the air getting into the system.

**tried to get pictures, but they did not turn out well.. Might need a new phone in addition to a new power steering pump.

UPDATE: Seems to be holding, very little air is getting into the system now, though some still is so It may just be a factor of needing new spring clamps for the upper power steering hoses. At least it isn't the pump.

I clean the car. The engine mounts are still shot, but hey, at least it doesn't do any blue smoke anymore!

A while back my Mondeo was involved in a crash.

Since i can't weld, i need to get that done in a workshop. But, i changed my door. All cables and electrics to the new door, unbolted the old one, took it off and bolted in the new with all electrics and panels. The "new" door, off a ST200 Mondeo needs a good buff.

Hopefully the new side panel will make the car look great again #trumpete. :p

And finally i cleaned all my leather panels and seats (front and back). Looking very fresh now.

Well last night I dun goofed. I went to remove the rear left brake disc from my wrx. I forgot to disengage the parking brake. As such, upon removing the disk it pulled sideways very hard on one of the brake shoes and destroyed a spring retaining cup marked 1 and 2 in this image:

It was late, there was no fixing it at that time. So decision was made to just to leave it until morning, except we didnt want to leave the car on the jack overnight and had trouble with axle stands (fuck the jack points on an impreza). Also with the no longer retained handbrake shoe, another disc wasnt going back onto the hub, and wheel wasnt going onto car without a disc. We needed a spacer. And so 5 minutes of british redneck engineering produced this engineering masterpiece.

This survived an alloy wheel being torqued up to 50N/m and being rested back onto the ground though likely because we still left a jack cranked up to meet the cars height.
This is how it looked this morning after being removed from the car again

The splintering is from where we made the holes, not from damage occured being under compression in the car.

Turns out. Plywood wheel spacers work XD Nah I wouldnt want to drive on that.
This morning I got a handbrake servicing kit for an Opel Corsa C. The spring retaining cup is about same size as a subaru one. Fitted my car perfectly. Brand new discs went on, new pads went in. Did the other side to match. Boom new rear brakes.

today I went through the the stacks of parts for my firebird that we salvaged off an unrestoreable one many years ago, wire brushed all the loose spray paint and rust off the passenger fender, inner fenders, and front splitter and begun the long task of straightening out a urethane nose that has been damaged by a door for the last 12 years.I still need to hit the fenders and inner fenders with rust converter and I need to move the roof so I can clean up the doors, hoods, trunk, several sets of wheels and a front sub frame as well as clean the other parts I have stored in the garage. we probably have enough parts to finish the 2 firebirds we have and build a third minus engine, interior and rear suspension

Been working on taking the transmission out of the yukon for the past 2 days. It's been mostly painless, but progress is slow.
I've dropped the driveshafts, starter, and transfer case. Pretty much all I have left to do is disconnect a few more things and take the trans out.
