No. PCIe is forwards and backwards compatible. You may need to check power requirements though.

If the motherboard has PCI 2.0 there's no need to change it. PCI 2.0 has been the standard for years (now is being replaced by PCI 3.0). What you should worry about when upgrading to a 700 series is your PSU and your case, in case the length room is not enough to fit the GPU, as modern cards are usually longer than the motherboard, so you need some extra inches there.

I agree, it might be wise to take some measurments before buying an upgrade. However, the GTX 760 DirectCUII performs quite well (BeamNG max settings + all postfx 60FPS i7 2600K), and isn't all that much bigger than a bog standard OEM card, it's still about an inch from the edge of my motherboard.

The GTX y60 (y being 4, 5, 6, 7 and I guess one day 8, you get the idea) is usually a standard length cards, but double height. 70, 80 and 90 tend to be longer.

Awesome! Great to hear, I knew it had to be something fishy like that.

I haven't been able to update my graphics driver in 2 years. Really sucks, still plays games great though so whatever.

On my school tablet, I'm not sure if this is what the graphics card is, but it says I just have one of those Intel HD Graphics 4000. Not sure if that is good or bad. Heres what I run it with:
    Mesh Quality: Normal
    Texture Quality: Low
    Lighting Quality: Lowest
    An-isotropic Filtering: 16
    Anti-Aliasing: 4
Shader Quality Low (wish I could get it to lowest :p)
With all of that I can get a solid 50 FPS when I'm plugged in. Best I've ever gotten on a PC.
Oh, I also run in 1280x720 windowed.

Regarding performance gains, does someone have any info on getting Lucidlogix Virtu MVP 2.0 working on notebooks? (Or having any link to a demo or something anything other than the Desktop version?) I thought google was my friend, but it only gives me stuff that only works with desktop configs, and wont install on laptops. Also, i only found "Desktop" downloads on the official site too, but a laptop version EXISTS 100%.. I dont know what, but maybe i am missing something..

Really? What are the rest of your system specs? Are the drivers updated? (I can't update the drivers on my laptop because of some undocumented voodoo BS somewheres keeping the drivers going "Oh, you don't have that piece of hardware, I won't install!")

I have a computer that does something like that. It goes incredibly slow and when I try to install a driver the installer wont see the device

Try turning the anti-aliasing down to 1 and anisotropic filtering down to 4 or 8 and make sure postfx are off then crank up the other settings.

Post FX is a killer on performance it kills the FPS...Gabester can you make it such that Post FX is disabled at start up please that would be helpful so we dont have to wait 20 minutes for it to disable itself?

20 minutes? It takes a maximum of 5 seconds. Also Gabester makes the vehicles...

For me, I am used to bad graphics on games, and usually FPS drops. I like having anti-aliasing up and anisotropic filtering as well, because I don't care about whether the trees and everything else looks like 3rd grader abstract art. I usually play on GridMap, with all of the stunt things, because it doesn't have much on it, yet it has a lot of stuff to do. PostFX is off for me as well. Once again, I am used to playing low graphics games (thats why I played MC for a bit, as well as me still playing Terraria), since I can't afford to get a good PC. Also, does VSync make the game run any faster?

I have VSync disabled and that gets a graphics boost so turn it off..
