Sorry to bust that bubble, but here's your "bridge" It's simply the map used for the automated performance stats gathering...
There seems to be something related to Torque 3D too http://www.garagegames.com/community/forums/viewthread/131070/3
Huh, Chunk loading for Torque3D? If they manage to code a procedural racing game, this game will remain in history (If it isnt already)
I think that it is already in history, they have pulled off so many incredible features that there hardly is any other. Procedural terrain and road generation would be logical choice if multiplayer is providing to be too challenging, it would make up a lot of missing multiplayer. However it might be easier to implement just procedural world generation for world editor, you would get terrain and roads based on parameters, you could even use special paint to paint rough lines for roads and code would generate something altered by those lines. I would guess road generator would need quite bit same kind of code as AI, so that there are limits and rules by which road can advance, terrain would then adapt to road etc. I have no any real info, but I would like to believe that big things would be something like that, or it could be more realistic that such would be in some later update, devs would of course be very quiet about it as that would be the big bomb to drop closer to beta as it would make quite large effect. It would take quite bit of computing power to generate world as terrain needs to be made, then roads, terrain needs to be matched to roads, same way map makers now can match terrain to mesh roads, generator might generate first mesh road, then replace it with decal road after terrain shaping, that takes some computing alone, but I guess that would not be biggest challenge, not really sure what would be, which is why I think they might do it.
Is the grassy/dirty stripe on the side used for the offroad score ? Do you mind explaining which data are collected and how are they processed to calculate it?
not so much speculation, but I hope that the hopper comes with some sweet offroad parts with it's release.
I think its obvious that when the devs said the update is 1-2 months away it more or less meant it's still at least 2 months away. So for me it would be a little bit of surprise if it will be released before april.
I bet it's done and they're just working on add-ons, configs and bugfixes for it. The only thing left I'd guess are some bugfixes, WCUSA (if applicable), performance tweaks, and general fixes.
I think for the QA branch its not needed. As they already have the Hopper. And duel cab. I think they must be updating code. And bug fixes. So i don't think there is any new Content between devs that they think are worth shearing. But then again you think they would want the other devs to know about the bugs. MMM strange. I may be wrong. About tall this But they use to update the QA branch all the time at least once a week. I think. As for the Update it's self. Dev said 1-2 months. So I don't think it will be later then the 8th. Don't hold me to that.
So, "Coincidentally", after I post something wrong here, devs post an update, so I'll be working on Tomorrow's wrong speculation... Anyway, the road. Spoiler: Even more road speculation (Thanks LjF!): Today, LjF posted a new "map". It is incomplete and upside down, but will help stuff like this a lot: This is actually the road that leads into the town, as you can see in my professional sketches. Not sure if the "something" and that part of town were dropped or are just not there yet. Edit: Yep, I was right. LjF just posted a new screenshot.
