My expectations: Should be able to rotate quickly Gear shifting should be swift and easy. (unlike Logitech G25) should not break down easily. correct position (steering wheels) after using for 3 years. must be cheap Model from Logitech should I buy I from: Driving Force GT $249.00 G25 $300.00++ G27 $599.00 Please do recommend other steering wheel brands.
I've tested both, and this is what I think: The FFB is almost the same in both wheels, G27 is a bit stronger. I think they both have the same good quality even though there's more plastic on the Driving Force. IMO, the Driving Force wheel is a lot better to hold, it has a soft material while G27 has "leather" which I don't really like the feeling of. The wheels are kinda similiar, only big difference is of course the stick shift on the G27. Go for the G27 if you want the stick shift, if you don't think it's important (even though it adds a lot of fun), go for the driving Force.
so whats the catch when I buy the Driving Force GT? is it like for automatic engine (no need to shift gears)?
I also have both the G27 and the Driving force wheel. The driving force is harder to turn in terms of max rotation speed before the motor goes beyond its max rpm limit (turning fast requires more strength). The G27 is a lot quieter, not that you notice tat much with surround sound or headset. The main reason i upgraded from the Driving force was the fact the G27 has clutch and H-shifter. That's basically the only reason. Build quality in both seems to be very good, more-so in the G27, especially in the pedals. The DF pedals are plastic pretty much all through; they are still good, just not as good as G27 pedals.
I know you said no other brands, but Fanatec makes some very nice wheels with 900 degrees of rotation and H-shifter/clutch. They might be outside of your budget though. I have a 911 Turbo S wheel with Clubsport pedals and it's fantastic and works great with BeamNG. Works with Xbox 360 as well; played a ton of Forza 4 with it.
http://www.playseat.com/shop/eu/uk/...e-edition-csr-pedals-shifter-set/category/37/, i found that. Not sure if it's the same one.
After reading through this thread I also want to buy a steering wheel. And I am wondering if BeamNG has force feedback support. I hope you can answer my question. ~Timbo
I have a G25. Its pretty nice. As far as i am aware it is louder than the g27 and the force feedback isn't as smooth. I think this is because the g25 uses a cog based system internally and the g27 doesn't, although i have had this g25 for about 5 years now there apparently is an issue where you can strip the cogs inside meaning the force feedback will no longer work, i am also unsure if you can get replacements. I have a feeling this may happen to me within the next year, it has been making some noises recently. But considering how much less expensive you can get the g25 for it is still a pretty good option. Not as good as the g27 but still good.
I am going to buy a Driving Force GT (UK Import) for ~100 € Another Question: Will BeamNG work with an Oculus Rift? I'd love to crash into a wall while sitting in that car (ingame of course ^^)
It did but it got disabled because the feature wasn't ready yet. I belive It is expected to return at some point in the future.
just got a g25 of craigslist for 150$ and it was well worth it. I'm probably going to modify the shift to give it a realistic resistance between gears. It is an amazing addition to this game. Like im playing a whole new game with it.
I have a very old Force GT, only 90 degrees of movement, but good other wise, good enough anyways. Obviously the G27 is the best, the G25 had some gear issues, being insanely loud and started getting rough, although the G25 does have a selector to go into sequential mode
