Is there any way to have a variable parking brake? The only thing I've been able to do in game is either a hundred percent on or completely off. I'd like to use the right stick on my controller as the parking brake for drifting and other purposes. I have the dead zones set so when the stick is centered the parking brake is off and when pulled fully down it's 100%. However pulling the stick down seems only to toggle it.
I was looking at xidevice.diff in input maps but can decipher it.

How do I set the right stick to variably apply the parking brake?

You don't need to mess around with any files. Just ingame bind your parking brake (not the toggle version) to your right stick. Centered is 0, up is 1 and down is -1, so you may need to invert it, but that's for you to find out.

Yup, just go to Controls menu and assign it to parking brake. If the axis is inverted, click the inverted axis option. And always remember to click Apply to save.

Edit: since you want to assign it to half an axis, and not to the complete axis, you must deadzone the half axis you don't want. Probably the lower half (from 0 to 0.5). And you will want some deadzone around the center, because the gamepad stick is not perfect and will not stop exactly in the middle. So use 0 to 0.6 deadzone, like this:
