Narwhal and Leosky are both officially banned. Narwhal's ban is temporary but Leosky's is permanent. Either way, these forums should be cleaner from now on.
I think it was @tdev's last post that really helped things. Just calmly diffusing the situation and wishing happy holidays is the way to do it. This is the last thing I'm going to say on the matter and hopefully everyone else will follow suit. This should be a lesson for everyone.
What is it with today anyway? If what's happening on the forums today is any indication of what I'll face on the road, maybe I should just do my Christmas shopping after work tomorrow or something.
Narwhal raised a legitimate complaint. Pressure from people in forums is what Nadeox should have expected by being a forum moderator, and threatening to ban someone over a harmless meme that was well on its way to becoming irrelevant isn't the way to go about things. Leosky deserved to get banned. Anything nasty in Narwhal's post wasn't caused by him nor was it supported. He shouldn't have been banned.
not cool guys. Keep your things together. Alright, but i'll not let the forum fall on that level. What is your quality advise on how to deal with them? Should i invite them to a nice round of coffee over skype discussing the personal problems everyone has in hours?
Very well said, both sides are in the wrong here, both sides also have good points against each other. As far as the dev's move goes, their response will only bring further scrutiny. Think about kids in school, or people in general for that matter; If a kid gets teased or bullied, trying to fight back (with words anyways) will only result in more bullying. Makes me think of a story of a friend of mine, he got teased for saying something dumb and instead of laughing it off and letting everyone forget he would get angry and would continue to get angry at any mention of what he had said. For several years that followed him. Both sides of the duck argument are playing the part of the person in my story as the victim, sadly this unfortunate business will follow the site for some time, hopefully not in an oppressive way. I used to be filled with hope and confidence in the dev team, but now I am not so sure. Lets just hope that holiday stress to get an update out is getting the better of them.
Alright @tdev. I have better things to do this holiday season than watch a swirling mass of diarrheal butthurt, and as such, I request to be banned until January 10, 2017, when the drama will have hopefully faded away. Please, grant me my freedom. Edited because poor choice of words
Its simple: You get asked by a moderator to stop doing it, if you still keep going, face the consequences. It's not about harmless ducky memes, its about asking someone to stop with something that is not helpful at all, yet he continues, complaining about censorship afterwards? This is beamng forums, its about developing a game, not about bashing the moderators.
Have you seen some of the "fan fiction" about this stuff? Sure it was simply a story but some of that stuff got seriously... Disgusting....
I would like to point out that the duck shit only seems to be a symptom of a deeper problem with this community. The source of the problem is that the maturity level of many of the members of this community is horrible. While Narwhal was the most significant contributor to the duck shit, he was not one of the members that kept it going. Those members deserve a ban as much as Narwhal in my opinion. In addition, Narwhal did remove what he wrote from his website, as requested. Force them to waste time elsewhere. Hand out warnings as needed, and bans when people continue being inappropriate and/or immature. The Terms of Service still state that members are required to be at least 16 years of age. That's quite obviously not being enforced. I think it's time that it gets enforced, or changed.
Duck shit, that's an appropriate analogy of the forums right now. thanks for reminding me about narwhal too
