My computer isn't no top of the line gaming computer that can run BeamNG.drive flawlessly. In fact, it is a pretty old laptop and I have all my settings at the minimal level and can run it flawlessly and still enjoy the game without the best graphics. However, seeing the gauge on how fast i'm going when in first person view is quite stressful and was wondering if there was a way I could increase the quality of the gauges to be able to read how fast i'm going without turning up the quality for everything causing my game to lag more. Whether it would be something I need to edit in a file, console command, or even world editor of BeamNG.drive. Let me know of any ways you know of to solve this altercation no matter how hard it may be, I'm looking for answers. Yes, I'm aware I can just put the widget type speedometer but it is not the same. I'm fine if turning up the gauges will lower my FPS a little bit as long as it doesn't compare to changing the quality of everything and completely killing my FPS, therefore ruining my enjoyment of this game.

*WHEN I SAY "GAUGES" I MEAN SPEEDOMETER*

It isn't really possible to improve the quality of the car's own speedometer without bumping up the graphics settings.

Fortunately, you can use UI Editor to add a digital speedometer or make the default speedometer appear in first person. Not to mention that the UI version is more clear and accurate than the speedometer within the car.

The feature might be hidden by default, so you'll probably need to enable the setting within Options.

I hate these type of comments where people don't thoroughly read the post, they pretty much just skim through it. I advise you read the whole thing.

I have read the whole thing...

You're not going to be able to see it better if you don't give up a few FPS...BeamNG is not one of those games that'll run smooth on most hardware out there (Even entry-level high ends would struggle maintaining smooth framerate).

The upcoming update might add some optimizations for the game to run better; but in the meantime, just use a small widget, even if you don't like using them.

What do you mean a few? I've bumped it up one level higher and my FPS drops about 50%

Your hardware is likely under minimum specification... there's nothing we can do.

Although you're against changing the video quality levels, the most simple thing to do is to turn up the texture quality in the options menu. It doesn't seem to affect performance on my end much; I have a fairly old laptop as well. I think as long as you have enough video memory I believe, you're good.

Incorrect. Just because you don't know of a solution does not mean others won't.

The graphics chip is the problem, the HD 5500 is integrated graphics. BeamNG has no support for integrated graphics and will have horrible framerate on them (With very few exceptions). Even though the specs are quite decent, the integrated graphics is below minimum and slowing everything else down with it.

And being a laptop...if you want more framerate, you'll need an external GPU (if supported) or a different computer with more graphics power.
