Ever since I updated Beam.NG.drive I have never been able to press Shift+Tab which opens a Steam feature where you can message friends in game... I don't know what caused this but can someone try and help me fix it? Help!?

Is the Steam Overlay active at all? (Check from your Steam settings).
Is Steam detecting you playing BeamNG?

I noticed that when you open BeamNG via steam, it is possible to see Steam Overlay. But, if you try to open it by a shortcut, the game doesn't open with any Steam feature. As a Steam FPS counter user, I suffer with this.

For me it works in both ways.
Make sure Steam is already open.

It works on all the games I have but BeamNG.drive. It works on Chivalry just fine.
