Okay great news - always nice to hear good news - I will always welcome this! I am glad my decision to make a humongous real game-map that uses cutting edge technology to it's fullest has not left everyone in the dust. Okay, so on that note, I haven't changed a thing besides haul lots of couches around the map to test out the AI (it's a hoot, try it out with the PROP MOD). Seriously going to make a COUCH hauling mission - or a few - this should be interesting seeing Youtubers out there trying to complete it or fail trying* I actually came in to note a change down on the Errata list of a goofy decal road texture and seen this. Seen some signs way nicer than mine in EAST COAST, don't know if they're added or not. They sure make mine look school and not in a good way. Better get some DAE modeling skills under my belt. We need some new houses. Seriously considering uploading this to the official site shortly when I get the green light from the moderators/developers. It's too big currently. 500mb limit in 2016 = fail. Going to try for 1gb here, could really use it. Want to keep the extra room for house models. I have a few textures and scripts to touch up before that happens but setting aside one evening for it should clean things up nicely. *I don't even have a mic or I'd record youtube vids of it. I am still one of the adults removed from the millenials though - I don't even like how I sound on answering machines :x 'Tis what I get for being in mid-30s. The AI has absolutely comprehension of what comes with hauling a couch, too, which leads to expected hilarity. This is reported by everyone trying thus far (Correct me if you cannot, please try to tell me how much RAM you had free BEFORE running Beamng.drive too), who has atleast 8GB system RAM and a moderately decent video card (R7 260+ / Gf 750 Nvidia) or better & 64-bit OS/GAME/Win7 SP1. @synsol Props to the DEVELOPERS for putting out a RAM-FRIENDLY Beamng.drive update. Things are much better here! Decal-roads much nicer to work with in editor, too! Multiple spawns are nice to play and even nicer to edit with! No more spending more time than it takes to smoke a cig driving to where I have to edit next --Cheers, will most likely resume editing Monday or whenever I get that airport built in Nevada Interstate and that ships out with an update (which admittedly has taken too long already).
Yeah that's listed on Errata, I only had one sign available at go-time and that was the one. It had to do, I've got the right direction on the way though. I think there's a second one somewhere (oops), I'll surely see eventually. Thanks for the diligence. Okay well let me know how it goes. The files are good thus-far as I know of. Runs on any machine with 8gb or more RAM and 64bit Beam (Win7 sp1), how well it runs depends on your CPU and GPU but to get above 40fps you need a real Bear of a system (that's on average all it runs here).
Okay, well try the mega.nz link. Also try temporarily shutting down the firewall you may have running for the moment. A virus scanner itself should not be stopping you or need to be disabled (but it theoretically could cause a problem). You could also try a different browser or try back in an hour or two or later tonight.
Remember that song by The Who "I can see for miles and miles" ... well who can/should forget that song anyways, they did a couple good ones. Well more to the point, in Tennessee, now you CAN see for miles and miles, and because the 'skybox' is in, there's really no reason you SHOULDN'T. Added just a LITTLE teensy-weensy atmospheric humidity-type-fog in, as that's common here. The temperature range will put it at about 88 degrees at high noon and 57 degrees at night, as is common for a clear day and clear night. Also got a little work on Rockwood (on Rockwood Rd just off Gateway Ave - the main road that's already in) done, just a block or two, but it's something.
Great work! Gotta say one of my new favorite things to do is to spawn 8 random cars and let them drive across the map on AI settings set to Random. Quite interesting to watch the adventures take place. Hill climb sunburst was down to 1/8th a tank when out of nowhere they took a corner a hair to fast and wrapped it around a tree. I was so dissappointed lol. In this discovery i noticed AI will hit the rail road tracks off the midtown exit wide open full speed. Is there any way to trick them to slow down?
You mean the tracks on the 4lane at pine ridge? Those are the closest tracks to Midtown I think... I might be able to get the AI to slow down a bit, not entirely sure though. The AI looks for bends in the road (turns) or pitch changes, and it's pretty straight through that one, so I might be able to re-do it a bit on the low side so they see a drop off... not sure - will see what I can do. The railroad tracks themselves are kinda beta entirely... Throw me a pic on here if it's not that one and it's like one of the ones in Rockwood for example.
You can fit a couple of copies of each of the existing 3D GTA maps inside of this terrain, with some allotment for reshaping. You could maybe fit RD:R and the 2d games represented to scale as well. I've flown over it in the airplane (average speed 150-175 mph) until my fuel tank ran out twice and still haven't surveyed every road. The scale of it is mind-boggling. That it is inside my computer actually amazes me, the same way the first 3D games amazed me as a kid. I get lost over and over again if I don't have the GPS and often don't recognize where I've been due to the length of my journey. I applaud the creator of this map and sincerely hope his accomplishments in working on the razor edge of what is possible in the engine encourage others to do the same. I'd love to see the California Grapevine and other popular/infamous roads/areas represented to scale. I don't know if it is the recent update, his work on the map between versions 3 and 4, or a combination of the two, but the AI often has me pushing my car to the limit to keep up when in matched vehicles. It's a exponential increase in fun-factor, due to the AI's ability to handle custom and original vehicles with apparent style and aplomb at speeds exceeding 120 miles an hour.
Well, I must say that this map has made so much progress since I posted first on the thread. The map is so big that i run out of gas when driving!
Cool map! Though would only download if you changed the gas station logo (as seen in the screen shots) to something more appropriate or would be called "rated pg".
sir its not that! *face palm* (I don't like McDonalds anyway but at least I think their ice cream is good! (Watch, I'm the only person in existence who doesn't like McDonalds very well)) It was the gas station logo.
Well it's a self-service station I doubt anyone would notice as you drove past at 90+mph anyways. No, really, while it may seem to be adult humor, it's called dry humor, and something that could be seen on prime-time TV these days. An episode of Family Guy or almost any-other modern sitcom/cartoon would contain more objectionable material than this does.
