hey guys, so I am new to beamNG and just bought the game an hour ago. I like the game but when I start driving, it lags every time I drive. I pressed L to see what the fps is and it said the fps was 400! I then went to the forested area on the white map in the demo, the game lagged even more and the fps went to 220 fps. I couldn't believe it and I need help.

I own a HP windows 7 laptop which is only a year old. its a noob question, but what can I do to make the game go faster?

Laptops are not really fit to handle BeamNG.

Try turning down the lighting settings, which might give you 10 more FPS.

umm, if its lagging at 400 or 220 fps, then you have a problem, as that shouldnt be a laggy fps, so either you read it wrong, and it said 20 or something, or your computer isnt able to keep up with the physics (which, is most likeley the case, as most laptops just cant run cpu and gpu intensive games

My laptop runs BeamNG fine, probably because its made for rendering and stuff. It depends on the specs of the laptop, especially the CPU in this game.

well, it depends on your specs, what cpu, gpu, and how much ram do you have? as it may just be nvidia optomus technology (or if on an amd gpu, amd's version of it) or if your on an intel gpu, that may be a problem as well, but the cpu is the main thing that matter's, a good gpu helps a lot to, as the graphics are pretty intensive, have you tried turning down all the settings though? or are you still running on defualt settings

ah, yep, its defintley your cpu and gpu, those just arnt powerful enough to run the game, sorry, youll most likeley have to buy a new desktop pc, also, try setting everything at Lowest, that may help, but anyway, yeah, if you want to play it at a better fps, youll have to buy a new pc

My laptop is running BeamNG Normal settings totally fine, and it's not even for gaming.
I'm using a MacBook Pro i5, the cheapest 13 inch one.

Wait, you said you pressed L? I thought you had to press Ctrl+F to get fps..?

EDIT: Yep. No way you're getting that many FPS. The FPS in the debug screen (L) is for something completely different. Don't know what, just something different. Press Ctrl and F to get your actual framerate. In that debug screen it tells me 2000FPS when I'm actually getting 110.

alright, pressed ctrl and f and got this [FPS] 5.3 max:20.2 min: 0.3 mspf: around 100 to 180, keeps on changing but I need a new laptop so what is the best laptop I can run for this game under $300 bucks?

[FPS] 5.3 max:20.2 min: 0.3 is your actual frames per second.

    Like this
    Max FPS: 20.2
    FPS Now: 5.3
    Min FPS: 0.3

So that's very unplayable, your laptop isn't good enough for BeamNG. Most the AMD A6 or whatever CPU's aren't very good for gaming.

I doubt you will find a laptop able to run BeamNG nicely for less than $300.

Stay away from the mobile AMD CPU's, make sure you get an Intel CPU for BeamNG, for laptops that is.

In the future, if there is a TechDemo for free try that before buying the game if you're unsure about your computer specifications.

IMO you should REALLY read up on computer hardware, as a "one year old laptop" could be a kickass gaming rig or just the standard (I only check facebook and email on here) piece of crap.
For a laptop you would need something like the "MSI GE40 2OC-009US" or similar.

BeamNG is a intensive game, While other games pushes carmodels on rails.BeamNG actually calculates physics interractions and molds vectors and other graphics in realtime. not only that it is running on the latest technology which makes the environment shine and is a piece of art to look at.
The background calculations are tremendous (wheel friction etc etc...) in this game compared to NFS Most Wanted and other generic games.
