I'm not so sure why the game is acting this way but it seems that after the latest update (0.3.0.4), there has been a massive hit in performance on my machine.

    Lots of FPS lag!

There is no mods installed, it's all vanilla.

There is also a weird shake in the camera while driving that is hard to explain. Its almost as if the camera is being bounced up and down.

It could be an issue with my system however I doubt it is, I am running a:

    - Intel Core i7 3930k
    - 64 GB DDR3
    - nVidia 680 GTX
    - Windows 7 x64
    - 2 SSDs in raid 0

Anyone else with a similar setup experiencing the same problems? Thanks in advance!

    That's a fast computer

What map/vehicle are you running? And we fixed the camera shake in the newest update :)

Thanks man! I love that pc :p.

The issues occurred with Grid Map and the new Bruckell Moonhawk.

I didn't play much after that but I ran the pickup, on the small island map and I had some fps lag on that as well minus the camera issue. Sorry but the names are escaping me atm and I don't have the game installed on this laptop.

Before this update the game played pretty well for a beta, however i didn't play version 0.3.0.3. I think it was version 0.3.0.2 that was the last stable version.

I could always try to reinstall the game and see if the issue persist, I will probably do that tonight and update this post.

Also, the issues are present on any detail level... It doesn't matter if its on all low/high settings, AA - AF - Vertical sync etc etc etc.

I will try updating to 0.3.0.5 before reinstalling and let you know what happens later today!

    Thanks for the info gabster!

Well, it's obviously something CPU related, seeing as you have a kickass CPU I'm thinking something is wrong with your frequencies.

Open CoreTemp, CPU-Z or similar and check your CPU frequency, it should be at 3.2Ghz or higher(default clocks), sometimes after your computer has been to sleep or whatever it doesn't fully wake up.
Most games you wont notice, but BeamNG uses your CPU the most. So I'd double check that to make sure, or even restart your computer :)

Does it still do this if you start your computer and go straight to beamng?

I did restart the pc after experiencing those problems.

Ah, you may be on to something tho. It seems the core voltage is all over the place and the core speed is changing a lot. This motherboard (ASUS P9X79 Deluxe) has voltage control. I remember a setting in the bios that would try to use less power to be more 'green'. I think that could be causing the cpu voltage to be all over the place. I will try to get that sticking at the correct voltage and retry the game.

I actually had this problem (terrible FPS in BeamNG) when my stupid ASUS motherboard would overclock my processor to 4.4 without my asking (that is literally the default setting - to overclock it to 4.4  ) and cause it to freeze/BSOD/reboot with the message "overclocking failed". On the next reboot I would get 5 fps in BeamNG, until I rebooted again. Now I've changed my BIOS to not stupidly overclock anymore and it hasn't happened again yet (after a couple of weeks so far).

It looks like we have about the same motherboard and similar processor (i7-3820 here), so it's probably the same problem :D

Yea, I found the AI overclock options in my motherboard. I had to set everything to manual and force the multiplier speed and bus so it wouldn't change. That was causing the cpu to go from 3.6 ghz to 1.2 ghz. I now have it at stock speeds, 3.2 ghz..

The game seems to run a bit better, I cant really find to much fps lag. The game still seems to run kinda choppy... I will have to make some more changes a little bit later and see if I can fix it completely.

If anyone is running an ASUS board with AI Overclocking features, you may want to give that a shot. It seems to help performance in the game!

    Thanks to all that replied.

Now you want to check and make sure it's actually keeping those speeds(on every core) while playing and check your RAM speeds just to be sure, turn off any power saving settings in the BIOS and change your windows settings to High Performance :)

Yep! I already did that. It seems to be sticking at 3.2 on core 0-5. Power saving was already at high performance, no turning off the monitor or hard drive. The EPU power saving is now disabled as well as the intel speed step and turbo boost.

I don't need overclocking or underclocking. The pc is fast and reliable at stock speeds. I don't know why those things are turned on by default, seems to be a waste.

I thought I already had this set when I built this pc but I guess not. Never really noticed any performance issues with normal games or day to day activities.

You should give us details on what your setup is.

    CPU, Ram, GPU etc

That will help them get a better understanding of what could be wrong.

That's really strange, I've got a 4670k @ 4.2Ghz + HD7970 myself and I don't lag in BeamNG at all. Have you tried turning off hyper-threading(Pretty sure your CPU has it)?
I've heard that it boosts performance in games a lot.

One other thing, check your game process in taskmanager and see if it's allowed to use all cores, right click BeamNG.drive.x86.exe > Set Affinity > <All Processors>

If that doesn't work then who knows
