1060 is more powerful and performs a little better in DX11, but the 480 supports proper Async compute which means it's faster in DX12 and Vulkan, making it more future proof. It's also cheaper and has more VRAM. Not much point in buying a 1060 unless you want to go Nvidia for some reason, if you can't afford a 1070 just go for a 480.
any source on rx480 faster in DX12, particularly with few games using async. I've only had horrendous issues with AMD GPUs, no desire to touch them. That and what about the async based shaders in ashes of singularity which tanked on the 380, 390 and 480
I personally won't touch AMD until big Polaris comes out, as the current cards are disappointing. GTX 1060 will be your best bet if you're on a budget. Yes, they do lack in DX12 performance, but a majority of developers still have yet to switch over to DX12 (performance gains are minimal on Nvidia GPUs anyways). There's also the used market, which is highly recommended. EVGA B-stock also has GTX 980Ti's for about $350. Used R9 390's are dirt cheap, crush RX 480's, and can embarrass GTX 970's while trading blows with standard 4GB 980's.
As well Nvidia burning houses,eh ? I'll jump in. The only game where 480 was faster is Hitman on my fast googling around. Thing is amd cars mature better, I can almost guarantee that Rx 480 becomes faster in maybe a year.
This is actually true, AMD has much better long term support. Just look at the GTX 680 and HD7970 at launch and a few years after release.
getting off topic from the posts above but, do u think that edge is better than chrome, ive used chrome for ages and its a solid browser, but Microsoft video shows that its power hungry, I will always use chrome on my desktop but on my "red laptop" id rather be more power efficient, also does anyone know if Microsoft is actually going to optimize edge for touch, chrome is halfway there with swipe to go back and etc, but no big buttons, windows 8.1 was good for this with metro but it seems Microsoft ditched all this because people complained
WOW. just got a working r9 270x for 10 dollars. sold as is. the guy on craigslist said non working. Need to stress test it, but it works fine as far as i can tell. I also got two HD 4890 graphic cards as well. Have yet to test them. Im happy
Going on holiday, so I just booted my laptop that has been out of use since I got the new computer. It does not like turning on anymore!
The laptop of a friend of mine just broke and now he needs a new pc he wants a desktop pc and he needs a full one but the games he plays arent that demanding what should he get? I said for the processor a i3 6300 would do and for the graphics card ge should get a rx 470 but i am not sure of the other parts of it like power supply and so on. Btw the games he plays are anno 2070 mincraft war thunder and generally Strategie games
Im bad with builds so here's https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/wiki/builds and https://choosemypc.net/#top
I went from a 960 to HD 530 last week, But my new 1070 should be coming tomorrow! It reminds me of the times I was sitting on the couch playing minecraft all day at 15 fps on my old laptop
