Huh? If I take the fan off of the motor I just have a plastic fan. I spun the motor with the fan on it out of the housing by putting 12v to it and it didn't wobble or anything. On the high fan setting you can feel it vibrating in the body of the car.
Replaced my front brakes! Spoiler: Pictures Jacked up. Removing rear bolts that hold on caliper. Rear caliper removed and suspended. New pads. Caliper back on. Next side. Before, after Caliper back on Tools used. Hubs and such had some surface rust but were otherwise fine, though in the future they will probably need to be replaced.
Took the blower fan out again and it does have a wobble to it. I don't know how I didn't notice it when I took it out the first time. The shaft probably somehow got bent. I don't think I care enough to spend money trying to fix it.
Put some bigger front tires on the front and made a custom fuel cell out of a 20$ 5gal boat tank. I also bashed back the front fenders to make them fit. But the stock 27" tires in the rear rub, and well I got 31"s to put on. Time for the angle grinder. Almost ready for the mud bog
Cut some fenders for some 31"s Although I did break the rear tail light mount and now I have no idea how to mount it.
Took off the rear muffler to see how it'd sound. Toying with the idea of throwing a glasspack back there. Mounted my camera to the tow hook and took this. I hit the limiter somewhere around the 2:50 mark.
I guess I should update what I've been doing to the new vic. Upon closer inspection the blower fan does have a wobble to it. The shaft must be bent. I don't care enough to spend money on a new one. I was able to epoxy the broken parts of the trim pieces back on. I don't really have much of a choice because there isnt a single panther with a black interior at the local junkyard. The exterior of the trim itself looks fine, it's just the mounting hardware on the back that was broken. They hold good enough right now but they'll probably fall back apart if you take them off then try to put them back on. Meh. Good enough for government work. One piece in particular, the passenger's side kick panel, hasn't been put back on. The epoxy on the holders for the christmas tree clips will probably hold going in, but it'll definitely break if you try to take it back out. I'm not putting that piece back in until I'm confident I've diagnosed all of the electrical gremlins. I've been touching up the paint spots on the hood. It's a pain in the ass so the progress on that is moving pretty slow. I got some handle rods from the junkyard and put them in, so now the rear doors both lock/unlock and open from the inside. The wheels have been cleaned and shined up, I just need to track down some center caps. The most glaring problem at this point is the instrument cluster. The whole thing will just die. Sometimes it'll die for a few seconds then come back on, then die again a few seconds later and repeat the process. Sometimes it will go out for the whole drive, sometimes (albeit rarely) it'll stay on for the whole drive, and everything in between. All efforts to diagnose it so far have been unsuccessful. When I first got it, the trans shifted good but not as good as the 06. It wasn't bad enough to draw attention, but if you turned the radio off and really paid attention they were kinda..mushy. Especially at slow speeds. It's shifting like a dream after a couple very thorough Italian tune-ups though. It mighta sat for a while after it was removed form service but waiting to be decontented of its police equipment. Today I replaced the rear transmission seal on my mustang. Thought while I was at it, I would go ahead and change out the spark plugs and wires. Come to find out 1 plug had a broken insulator.
