I'm sick of the orbit camera flip flopping all the time when moving around slow, it's never predictable when in the air either. It needs to be replaced by a world of tanks style camera that stays put around the orbit of the vehicle facing center mass.

It's also annoying when your car flips over and you pick a new car...the thing is still flipped over.....then when you try to grab it the orbit camera is flying all over because the car is moving millimeters you can't grab a node to flip it back over.......

The crawler guys would appreciate it.

I don't have this problem. Documenting it in a video may help with understanding.
What? The camera in WoT works because you use the mouse to aim. There is no reason to have to camera not follow the car's direction of travel in BeamNG.
You've confused the orbit camera with the chase camera. Just recenter the camera the way you normally would.
Ummm... That has been solved in the latest version of the game. Make sure to have Steam update it, or whatever you do with Humble Bundle.
Should I know/care who they are?

I know in wot the camera moves because you have to aim but it would be nice because it stays put in the direction you look.

I should have expected this hostility from a game forum but maybe i'll make my first youtubes video to explain if thats what it takes.

Just use the chase camera, should fix all of those problems you described.

I think that you are mistaking helpfulness for hostility! Funky7Monkey just asked for some more information. I think that entire post was pretty accurate. I actually subbed after that post waiting to see the information. I'd also like to see a video of your problems - it sounds like you can take one right? That would be good. The only current problem which I'm aware of is that the orbit camera does not behave properly on respawns (wrong orientation).

If you just want a camera which looks the direction you left it, try the relative camera. It's pretty new. It takes a little bit longer to put in position but stays where it's put relative to the car - including both the angle and position. To position it I use these controls: WASD/Page-UP/Page-DOWN/right-click+drag

I just don't like how when you go in reverse the camera switches position....it should stay where it's looking

And the chase camera flips to reverse when you go in reverse......if you allow me to look in reverse by myself, let me do it only when i want to.

I sort of see what you mean and it annoys me also. If I move the orbit camera to a position, I want it to stay in that position regardless of what direction I'm moving. Sometimes it wigs out and if you point it behind you (while reversing for instance) it will move by itself so you are looking at the rear of your car and you can't see where you're going in reverse. A little annoyance but I just deal with it until (hopefully) something is done about it.

I agree with all of that sometimes. I actually use the orbit camera for normal driving and I like it to turn around on it's own most of the time. Sometimes I need it to stay put and it's very annoying that it won't.

Maybe we could come up with a good compromise... like a hotkey to change the current "orbit camera" position into a "relative camera" position.

The Relative camera should help. It stays in the same position.

You can't disable the Orbit camera' reversing'.
The camera is not aware of that.

The camera is simply following the car.
Think the orbit camera as a camera fixed to the car via a rope (but always pointing to the car)
If the car backs up, the rope won't move the camera, until the maximum distance is reached.

Well that is what happens so you can see where you are going.

I find the orbit camera fine. I have the camera settings so when I reverse the camera spins around extremely quickly, since the regular slow turnaround is annoying. The camera still needs some improvements though, such as being able to recognise where it is so it doesn't confuse itself.

Is there no way to stop the camera from turning itself? I naturally rotate it myself when i want to reverse, only to watch it 180 itself again when i start to reverse. It cant be that hard to stop this?
I tried the obj.camRelaxation = 99 thing but that line isnt where all the guides say it is anymore. I get around it i guess and at least can predict when it will happen but is not ideal tbh
