I think I've finally figured out what I'm going to do with my new car. I'm gonna use it as a base platform for an Autocross/Track/Street build. This will be achieved with off the self Ford Racing parts, decent tires, and a strict budget. I plan on adding about 15HP, 17 lb-ft, and dropping the car an inch with wider rims and tires through the use of a Ford Racing suspension kit that comes with new shocks, springs, anti-roll bars, and an adjustable panhard bar and a Ford Racing V6 power adder kit. The power adder kit comes with a more free-flowing true dual exhaust, intake, and a tune. I'll also be dropping in a more performance oriented clutch (as it needs one anyway) and a better shifter as the stock one suuuuucks. Then visual stuff would be some black stripes because Mustang, a GT hood, louvers, and a GT foglight grille. I'm having fun with this.
I am back up on Linux again (kubuntu). Got everything up to date and am trying to get used to Linux app development since it is probably a useful skill to have. Since 80% of my experience is in visual studio console/forms development, the other 20% in using mono on windows for Unity development since Unity is a bit of a diva on university computers if you try and get it to play with vs. It would seem that Mono actually seems to do the job for the forms style stuff. As for the new updates I got, damn they have been busy. Fonts now seem to display correctly rather than being bodged, Firefox is now able to display tabs in the window header thank christ, no more wasted screen space. The log on screen also displays correctly on a dual monitor setup now too without glitching which is awesome. All in all, it is starting to feel like a decent OS. In fact I am tempted to say that if all my games and software worked on it I would actually be able to function on this now. Sadly steam is still f'ed up, with letters from text going missing occasionally. But the bain of my life which is finding a replacement email client is still in full force sadly. Currently waiting to try thunderbird with addons to see if they can patch it up to how Opera mail works. But testing email clients is really fun when they have to download 26,000 emails... At a pace of maybe 10 emails per second, meaning about 45 mins in order to sync. Update: Well, the font manager has now crashed... Maybe it's not quite there yet then Update 2: Even better, I can't find which task to end since ending the font related one causes the function bit of the program to reboot. Ughhh Update 3: Now getting messages telling me an internal Ubuntu process has crashed, at least it gave me the process name so that I could end it. All is now good in the world, apart from steam.
There is /always/ font issues with Steam while on Linux, go through google with searches like "linux missing text steam" etc and you will for sure find a solution. I know you aren't running Arch, but the Arch wiki is a god send for every distro. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Microsoft_fonts As for email woes, webmail is the future. Personally I am not a fan of email web clients. I like to have a separate window on my dektop that deals with mail and nothing else, it ensures that I can keep on top of things. Plus I have two emails from different providers (personal [gmail] / uni [Microsoft]), therefore I would need to have two tabs open. Plus the outlook365 web client is basically awful, its slow, takes forever to load and is unintuitive. My general email workflow is as follows: email arrives, pops up in bottom right corner of rightmost screen and in email client I open the email and read it (but emails are not auto marked as read) If the email is spam I click the read button and it gets removed from the list If the email requires me to do something then it stays unread until the task is done, then is marked as read when completed. This ensures that I don't miss or forget about things, so if I get an email receipt from amazon it stays there until I have added it in finance software etc. This is quite clearly a use case that opera mail was designed around since this workflow works out of the box. But dear god is Mozilla thunderbird really suffers in readability. Plus without installing extensions it is not possible to add a "mark as read" button to the user interface without it being added to the title pane of the software which imo is absolute insanity, the people who made that software need to sit around a table and figure out how they want the UI to function because it is incredibly inconsistent and difficult to read and use. Plus there is no combined inbox either, since I have 2 emails (personal/uni) I do not want to treat them separately, its needlessly clunky to have to specify which account I want to look at when they can all be put in one place. So in short opera mail simply has a damn good UI. But it is only available on windows and has never ever received a software update. This is because opera ditched their browser which had an integrated mail client and moved to chromium. So they released this thing so that people could keep using their email. But as such it has never received any love from them, its only by virtue of the email client that was built into their browser (which I used previously) being really good that this isn't littered with bugs etc. Opera Mail: Thunderbird (image from google, not my account)
Meanwhile in Discord. --- Post updated --- Ugh. It's about 75F (24C) and 95% humidity. The humidity is torturous. I'm having to work outside. I'm drenched in sweat because of the humidity, and it isn't even very hot outside.
Sweet like chocolate is such a tune, haven't heard that one in years. That takes me back to childhood... Although the Eiffel65 cgi video does seem like more of a piss take. I would also like to add this into the mix of cgi though, quite a bit better than many of the ones in the video. But another song from memory lane. EDIT: After a bit of searching I think I have outdone a lot of that video, it was pretty typical of the period to have videos like that.
Oh come on most of that is actually pretty decent, especially considering the time period in which most of it was created.
