So, I found a little program that exports ABK files from NFSU2 and NFSMW2005, I tried the BMW M3 GTR sound, spent 2 hours making this: What do you think?
God I love NFSMW2005, it may not be realistic as far as handling is concerned but it sure has a well done "gritty" atmosphere, plus the best police chatter I have heard in a game to date; This program sounds awesome, cant wait to rip the Carrera GT sound if it gets released. As a side note the Bmw GTR sounds good, however I wonder if its possible to rip the strait cut gear whine the car has at high speed, or at least make it louder.
IK this is kinda off topic for this post, but screw it I love this car too much. That engine was originally developed for racing, pretty late in the development process Wendelin Wiedeking, the CEO at that time canceled most of Porsche's racing programs including the one which planned to run the Carrera GT, and created the oddball SUV (cayenne). Although this saved the company financially it drew criticism from Porsche fans, and eventually the same guy tried to buy Volkswagen.. which as we now know didn't go well, especially since the chairman of Volkswagen at that time was Ferdinand Piech, a bloodline Porsche. I find it amusing that the same guy who we have to thank for the Carrera GT also canceled most of porsche's racing programs, Created a suburban status symbol and tried to upset the rule and buy one of the biggest general automotive companies in the world as a (primarily) sports car manufacture, again shaming Porsche in the eyes of some fans, who appreciated that pre-VW sellout, Porsche was one of the last great independent luxury sports car manufactures.
This: http://zenhax.com/viewtopic.php?t=1567 Just copy and paste the ABKs/GINs you want from NFS to the folder in the folder of those .exes, then drag the ABK or GIN over the program (there's 2, so if you want an ABK drag it over the ABK extractor) and it generate WAV files for you! --- Post updated --- I found something interesting though, before I figured out it was CAR_00_BLAH_BLAH.abk, I tried the GIN files, sound more like dyno samples, because the ABK gives you 7 or 8 static sounds. But going through the GIN files, where I finally found the M3 GTR, interestingly enough the sound is actually a TVR Cerbera instead of a real P60B40, but the transmission whine sounds pretty much like the M3's --- Post updated --- When I ripped the transmission whine, I got 2 sounds, but I made them very quiet in the .sbeam
I'd love to get the Subaru WRX sound from NFSMW2005 in BeamNG. That would sound amazing for the Sunburst. I'll see what I can do once I finish my homework.
this is nice! how is the source called for the gear whine?? do you know more sources than those? or you just modified the lua?
I believe it's CAR_12 or something I'm using wheelspeed in the .sbeam file source: ["default", "vehicles/enginesounds/CAR_TRANNY_01.wav", "AudioDefaultLoop3D", "TRANSMISSION", "wheelspeed", 1, 0, 0, 0.23, 0.2, 1.75, 000, 80, 0, 10, 75, 145, [], [] ], ["default", "vehicles/enginesounds/CAR_TRANNY_02.wav", "AudioDefaultLoop3D", "TRANSMISSION", "wheelspeed", 1, 0, 0, 0, 0.2, 1.5, 00, 80, 75, 145, 999998, 999999, [], [] ],
Uh, when I drag the abk onto the extractor, it takes forever, the Windows Explorer window freezes forever, and no wavs appear.
Make sure you copy the ABK from the NFS folder to the parent folder of where you put the abk extractor
