Online hacking. People hacking stuff, like making cars invisible and placing walls. Edit: people putting naked girl paint jobs on their cars.
If it doesn't come out for lower versions of Windows, I'm not getting it. Microsoft can't and won't force me to use Windows store, app stores are awful to begin with and I don't want that kind of DRM on my PC. It's that simple.
I'll buy it if it's available as a proper Windows executable, or if MS decides to make their UWP not crap. As of right now UWP apps are bloody awful.
isn't steam basically a DRM? I'm not too familiar with the windows store, and I don't plan on using it.
you wouldn't really be able to mod it since the vehicles models are really high poly so you would never be able to make models that look as good.
Steam is a platform, you can sell a DRM free game on Steam - BeamNG is an example, you can copy the game files and it'll work even if Steam is not installed. Windows store however, UWP app files are locked down and completely inaccessible once downloaded. The store is also the only way to install UWP apps on a non developer enabled device. Enabling developer mode requires a dev-enabled MS account, you'll already have it if you're an actual dev but is a pain in the arse to get if you're not.
Oh, I should have(and kinda did) known that microsoft would mess up their store somehow, I assume it's even windows live for pc or whatever it was called?
I was thinking about vehicle mods but other mods would be possible. what I was saying that it would be very hard for an average vehicle modder to accurately make a vehicle for this game unless you have the right tools (scanning equipment sound recording etc)
GFWL is, fortunately, very dead. Unfortunately it has also taken a whole bunch of games with it, rendering them unable to even start. Windows store is completely different, probably worse since it's a locked down distribution platform (unlike GFWL which was simply a redistributable framework) and relies on UWP, which while good in concept is, as is often the case with Microsoft products, executed very poorly, and the platform as a whole is built to benefit Microsoft and not the user or developer.
I am excited with it being free. Not too happy about having to upgrade to windows 10. May even have to upgrade my GPU but should do that anyways. I know its gonna have roughly 60 cars with more available as DLC which is fine, as long as I can pick and choose what cars I want and skip the ones I don't.
Considering its DX12 exclusive, you're gonna have a hard time either way if you arent on W10. --- Post updated --- FTFY Hence reinforcing @TheAdmiester 's point that you dont have any idea how game modding works. Just because original vehicles might be (arbitrary made up number) 1 million polies doesnt mean you have to get a 1 million poly laser scanned model for your mod, you could still use a 50000 poly model if you wanted.
I love this game and have been dreaming about it coming to PC for ages now, but honestly fuck microsoft. Unless someone finds a way to get this game without their cancerware DRM, I'm probably not gonna get it.
Hmmm. Well, however impossible it might be, if it ever sees a Steam release, there would probably be a DX11 compatibility mode. Especially considering the fact that most people don't have DX12-ready graphics cards.
