Sadly no, I don't have the space or skills to do it myself, bolting it in? Yeah I probably could've done it. Sorting out EWS(anti-theft system)? Hell naw. That's WAY out of my league for now. Paid a guy to do it but he kept me very involved with chosing parts etc. So I still feel like I'm part of it. Painted the rims myself though, and I've done a TON of work on the car myself(suspension, interior reupholstery etc)
ive never worked on a bmw but ive been told some things are not easy to reach without removing other things, a reoccurring theme in german engineering. should be fun to put a hurting on the working stiffs who lease their bmws instead of building them.
Just some routine maintenance. In all seriousness I spun three rod bearings, and folded over my oiler ring on #1, thus gouging out the cylinder wall and ruining the block (without a bore that is).
It's not that bad actually, the engine fits with room to spare at least on my model. Only thing that's hard to reach is the exhaust, it's nearly impossible to take it out without tilting the motor. It's mainly just the anti-theft systems you need to worry about, they're great when it's all stock, but when you try to do a swap it's a pain in the arse.
Did a quick Full throttle run in my Cruze today, when you push it all the way, the power is lost in the soggy weet bix excuse of an auto. it makes a little bit more crappy resonation and noise but no more speed. love auto.
Everyone who thinks the Cruze was an upgrade over the (lighter, more powerful) Cobalt needs to see this post.
This is the YG Cruze from 2003 with AWD. sort of more front wheel drive until it's too late, the AUDM one, so the one with holden badges and non rediculous bumpers, not sure of any other changes. but yeah. the one based off the suzuki ignis. (Maybe has a different name in the us.) it's the hatchback model in blue.
respect. that never happens unless you push the limits, and you don't push the limits without balls. respect.
Swapped out the o2 sensor and TPS...still got crappy idle when hot :| I also got some LED bulbs for the backup lights installed, before and after-picture
Came in too hot on a blind corner and the rear end kicked out because I was braking so hard. I caught the slide but still tapped the rail unfortunately. Thanks man. This was on hot semislicks in the dry, so you might have an idea of the speeds involved...
not technically today (was on sunday) but me and my dad completley replaced the oil and oil filter (drained oil pan, etc) for the first time since we got our current expedition sometime last year it was pitch black, frankly i'm surprised the engine dealt so well with such shit oil so well (in fact we only bothered with it because while driving that day oil pressure kept dropping to 0 and then back up again and the oil pressure warning light came on and then back off after the pressure came back up) but so that was fun, gave it some fresh oil after changing the filter and of course putting the drain plug back on, and no more oil pressure problems.
I got the camshaft reprofiled in my Jeep Cherokee 3-door. Its got the indestructible inline six engine which that is a fib... I hate the Jeep, yet I spend money on it with no peace of mind. It is kind of a love-hate relationship I should say.
Fitted my freshly painted Tank and fairings, looking pretty nice compared to the original flat blue someone painted it, Candy alomoana red was the original colour so that's what I painted it. Purely because it's a nice colour.
