That could be possible, I've never actually dealt with a 4.6, a buddy of mine has a half ton 2wd Ford with a 4.6 as his employer supplied work truck, and he is the biggest Chevy fanboy you'll ever meet, not even exaggerating, like so much so that he doesnt like how Buick and Caddy used a front mounted dizzy in some engines, says its too Ford-ey, And he has been trying to kill that truck since the day he got it, and he hasn't had an issue yet, going on 225K.

Funny enough, the 300-6 is my Favorite Ford engine, and my Chevy loving friend actually says he doesn't hate them.

Today I cleaned my moms base model 2012 Nissan Sentra and had to tell her that the front passenger side headlight cover had cracked at the bottom (dammit)

yeah, the 4.6 seems to be overall a much better engine than the 5.4. My grand marquis had a little over 200k miles when i sold it. It still ran great and pulled hard for a 190 hp boat of a car. My crown vic has 195k miles and 1300 idle hours, and it pulls pretty damn hard for a 4100lb heavy duty sedan. The 5.4 also has very little top end power, whereas the 4.6 seems to have a pretty even powerband. enough low end torque to hustle my vics heavy ass to 60 in about 7.6 seconds (clocked with a buddy of mine's phone stopwatch on a nice flat road), and enough top end power to get ya from 60-90 in a relatively short time, and keep pulling till about 135(depending on what year/rear end you have).
However I have a friend with an 02 f150 5.4, and I would walk him every time with my 190hp marquis.

Insurance finally settled and sent in my RSX for its body damage repair, for a rental I got a 2016 VW Jetta TSI, not gonna lie I'm liking the turbo on the Jetta, fast little sedan.

I'm also finally cleared to release the dashcam footage, so here you go. No audio due to the amount of swearing I did. Apparently the guy didn't see me, hear my horn even though I started honking it when his reverse lights turned on, and didn't feel the back of his truck raise up. So it was a hit and run.

Ignore the watermark, I was lazy.

Okay, I have a question about my 1999 f150 4.6L V8 it has about 150K on it and it is still running strong but there is a tick only when it is moving. I can sit there and let it idle and not hear a tick but when I am driving with the windows rolled down it ticks. I can hear the tick only if a vehicle is next to me or I'm next to something that will bounce the sound back toward me. If I get on it the tick gets louder as I go faster. With the windows up you can't here it ticking? Any ideas? I am thinking maybe an exhaust leak?

Does it follow the engine RPM?

The Marq's intake manifold cracked. I noticed I lost power a few days ago. Thought it was nothing. Noticed it was running a bit rough around 50mph. Well, last night I was out driving it around in 30F weather. The fan came on and stayed on. I got it home and woke up this morning and noticed I was pretty much out of coolant. I filled it and started it. Few mins of running and the thermostat opened and it started a waterfall of coolant under the car. It's leaking into the ignition coils to. It'd been sitting about an hour when I took these pictures so a lot of it has been evaporated but you can still see the coolant around the coils and leaking down the front of the block.

Work hasn't started yet so I'm driving the Ranger and Focus until I can get this fixed. Probably a good month to save enough.

Edit-It is probably NOT a cracked manifold but a heater core hose that is broken. It could also be the manifold's gasket. The manifolds squirt coolant up and all over the under side of the hood. Mine is leaking in the back of the engine down the transmission... This may save me some money.

Well, based on my previous, aforementioned experiences, I'd say its an exhaust leak, specifically, one of your manifolds is pulling away from the head.

In other mod engine based news, my buddy's 4.6 work truck, blew two spark plugs out, in the same day,

Yeah mine isn't doing that. There is no tick when it is idling. It does idle kind of rough though. When stopped at a stop light in drive the truck while like shudder. The RPM wont change but the whole truck shudders. It is weird. I have a friend ride in the car with me and he can't figure it out either. It doesn't matter if the engine is warm or cold it will tick when moving. I have been keeping my eye out for things like that though because it has lived a hard life before I owned it. It was a farm truck then it sat for a while. It lived on a gravel road till I bought it. Bought it at 140K 6 months ago. How is your gas mileage in yours? I get max of 15 on the highway at 10-12 in town. I drive it 20+ miles a day and 50+ twice a week between work and school.

It might be the nipple on the back of the intake that one of the heater hoses attaches to. It's plastic so it gets brittle over time and is known to crack and break.
If you do need to replace the intake, I highly recommend you do it yourself. You'll pay a fraction of what a shop would charge you to do it. All it takes is a day and some basic hand tools to do it. There are a bunch of very detailed write-ups on the process too.
The Ford "Racing" 4.6 Intake is the OEM part and is a direct fit for all 01+ panthers. You can try and shop around for a better deal if you want.

I REALLY hope that it's just the hose. But the way it's leaking all around the manifold and drowning my coils makes me think gasket. The average mileage of the intake manifold gasket failure on my car is 138k. I'm at 130k. $630 is the average repair.

Confirmed my worst fears with the Merc. It is indeed a cracked Intake Manifold. The crack is directly beneath the thermostat. When the Thermostat opens, and the RPM is held above 1750rpm, it spews out of the crack like a little water fall.

Can see the dried coolant on the engine cover. That's right over the thermostat housing. That's the reason why it didn't explode every where like some do. The cover kept it contained.

Damn, that car was actually really good looking with those wheels. Things sitting like 4" off the ground with all the weight.

Just stock steelies with beauty rings and center caps :). I miss it so much. almost wish i hadnt gotten rid of it. Drivetrain was still great, but window motors started failing, and rust were getting bad. Wanted to sell it before the value dropped more. Managed to get 1500 for her though. What finally drove me to selling her was getting pulled over and being forced to peel the tint off the windows.

just got my Duster back yesterday, and the seatbelts are a very nice addition, (in Acapulco, driving and vehicle safety laws are nearly nonexistant, dunebuggies and quads can drive on public roads and freeways no issue.)
but something I'm noticing is a strange noise coming from the rear-right-hand side of my car whenever I'm on the throttle and the suspension compresses (I think), hoping it's something cheap like a new pair of leaf springs, and not the differential or right rear wheel hub.

still gonna drive it because it's just a noise and it only happens when more than two people are riding in it.

Well I have two theories, First, have you changed the differential fluid lately? Could be gear chatter,
Or, it could be as simple as the tire rubbing the fender.

Oh you know, car things... A story of how 2 BMWs become one really badass Bimmer, perfectly suited to bully company car Audis and Mercs into submission :D Lightweight flywheel, 6-puck unsprung racing clutch. So many skids have already been made! :D Also put my freshly rattle-can 2-stage painted summer wheels on there to finish it off. Came out really good, paint came out almost perfect(I made some errors with sanding before paint, the paint itself is perfect)

    Also, knees weak, moms-spaghetti-style exhaust
    More build pics here!
