Hello, I am planning on making a pc build, and I was wondering if the following specs would give high fps in high settings. Also, I am on a budget and the link to my planned build is already slightly above my budget. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/4yNfYJ
Should run fine, but get an R9 380 instead. Better card for the same price and much better DX12 performance. Or wait for Polaris. Also, get an EVGA PSU, Corsair CX series aren't very good. --- Post updated --- Here's a much better build for the budget. It doesn't have an SSD or ODD but it has a much more powerful graphics card, doesn't include Windows but you can get that for cheap at places like /r/microsoftsoftwareswap - you can get a Windows 8 Pro license for $20-25 and upgrade to 10 for free, you get Win10 Pro for 1/4 of the price and it's not an OEM license (which becomes invalid if you swap out any parts). It's a much better gaming build and should max out most games in 1080p @60fps. You can add an SSD later if you want to.
Would a GTX 970 work for the build? Also I edited the build from the link and added an optical drive, I like the link for the Windows installations for cheaper prices. Also, with the build not including Windows 10, I still may have to put the price down a bit on the build, I'll work on that.
As someone with a 970 get the 390 instead. Nvidia can't do proper Async Compute so AMD is much much better at DX12, making the 390 much more future proof. Doesn't matter if you like Nvidia, there's no reason to buy their cards right now because they suck at DX12. (I bought my 970 before either the 390 or DX12 were a thing)
PCPartPicker would alert you if it did not come with a cooler. OT: The PC is just fine for running BeamNG. I have a 4th gen i5 and a GTX 750 Ti, and usually get 40 fps on ECUSA at 1080p Normal settings.
Yes. Only the K CPUs have no stock cooler, my guess is people were trying to OC with it and killing their CPUs so Intel decided to stop shipping it.
Would going down to a 500GB HDD be an ok move for budget reasons? Or should I stick with the 1TB HDD?
Pretty big. The 380 can still handle most games in 1080p60 high settings, but it's just enough. The 390 is a much more powerful card and should be able to max out nearly anything for the next few years.
The R9 390 and GTX 970 are in fact enough for GTA V in 4K with everything at High-Max at 45 FPS. Watch Awesomesauce.
