Is the cooler mounted properly? It needs to press against the CPU. --- Post updated --- Nevermind, I think I found the problem: Source The FX-8350 has a 125W TDP, almost twice the recommended max TDP of the cooler. OF course it's going to overheat. Why would you need a LP cooler anyway? There's no AM3+ ITX board, and any mATX or ATX case should fit a larger cooler.
what cooler is this anyway? edit: Whoops, missed. Yeah that cooler is not suitable, it's simply too small, though you haven't helped it with the over application of thermal paste. Stock cooler is simply better
Finally got my noctua 40x10mm fan to replace the default 40x20 delta fan, it's so much quieter. Less CFM sure, but even during gaming it was never blowing out any heat so I'm not too worried. Plus a bunch of people on overclock.net did it, no problems as I've seen.
1U power supply, it came with the case. 500W Gold too, it's really nice and stable at really high overclocks on the GPU.
well i wanted a low profile cooler for looks but i did not buy my cooler from noctua i bought it from walmart and there is no warning from walmart.com at least i did not see one but thank you all for helping and does anyone have a recommendation for a cooler that is in that price range? i can only spend about 25-45 dollars P.S. i am not Overclocked i am at stock speed P.S.S would a Noctua NH-U12S work???
No. Don't buy PC parts from walmart. Unless keyboard or mouse in emergency. Otherwise, buy stuff from Newegg or Amazon.
The U12S is a great cooler, but get a CM Hyper 212 Evo. It's cheaper and just as good, fan's a bit loud but for the price of the UH12S you can stick a Noctua fan on it and it's essentially the same, or dual Corsair SP120's which look and work great (I have this setup, 60C load and very quiet).
i need a quiet system also sorry for spamming the forums you all are the first people i go to when i need help
Stick a Noctua fan on the 212 Evo. Still cheaper than the U12S. Or put 2 Corsair SP120's on it like I did, they're also very quiet. Replacing the fans on the Evo is a pain in the arse, but worth it.
Yes. Works just fine on 8-core FX. With dual SP120s I get 55-60C load temps on a 4690K @4.4GHz (~12% OC, 88W TDP).
Read the post. Or my signature. i5-4690K, Intel CPU. 50% lower TDP than yours but runs very cool, an 8 core FX will be fine with a 212 Evo + SP120s.
Idk If this counts but, The internet in my house is gone, expect my computer still has internet, The Ipads, TV, etc. has no internet. Expect my computer. Anyone know how to get the internet working again?
The SP120's are louder than the Noctua NF-F12's, but they are a good bit more performant and cost $10 less together.
